RIGA, Latvia: Soldiers from the 3rd Infantry Division offload an M1A2 Abrams Main Battle Tank from the transportation vessel “Liberty Promise” March 9 at the Riga Universal Terminal docks. More than 100 pieces of equipment, including the tanks, M2A3 Bradley Fighting Vehicles and assorted military cargo, will move on to sites in other areas of Latvia as well as Estonia and Lithuania in support of Operation Atlantic Resolve.

Approximately 750 U.S. Army and military vehicles and equipment, including tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, artillery pieces and helicopters from the 3rd Infantry Division arrived in Riga, Latvia, on Monday by ship to support Operation Atlantic Resolve and planned Army-Europe multinational training exercises in that region. This equipment will be used for training of NATO allies in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.

First Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division, Rock of the Marne, is assuming responsibility as the land-force training mission from Army-Europe’s 2nd Cavalry Regiment, who will depart in March. First Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division, is based in Fort Stewart, Georgia, and they are the Army’s current regionally aligned force for Europe. They will follow in on their equipment beginning next week, and are expected to remain in the region for approximately 90 days.

Analyst: U.S. creating false intelligence on Russia to scare Baltic states (are false flags next?)

The U.S. is doing everything possible to break the Minsk truce agreement
The United States is creating false intelligence in the Baltic region in order to show that Russia would increase its military actions in the area, says political analyst Joaquin Flores.
Flores made the remarks in an interview with Press TV Monday when asked about US arms shipment to the three Baltic states of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania to provide them with the ability to “deter” the perceived threat from Russia.
The weapons, which were delivered to the port of Riga, the capital of Latvia on Monday, include Abrams tanks, Bradley fighting vehicles and Scout Humvees as well as support equipment.
“One thing we clearly see from this is that the US is doing everything possible to break the Minsk truce agreement,” said Flores, who is the director and an analyst at Center for Syncretic Studies.
On February 12, leaders of Russia, Ukraine, Germany and France agreed in the Belarusian capital of Minsk to stop the fighting in east Ukraine and to start the withdrawal of heavy weaponry from the frontlines.
“The US is quite upset that European leaders broke ranks with NATO and the US over this,” Flores stated, adding “it is not forecasted that the US will be able to undo this agreement immediately at least not very easily.”
He said the US is trying to achieve two goals by sending arms to the region. “We can see that these armament shipments are really conforming to two plans.”
“One is to inspire arms sales and arms shipment” in the area to benefit US armaments industries, he said, adding “the second piece of this is to scare Latvian, Lithuanian and Polish leaders into thinking that there is something happening that is not. They’re creating false intelligence reports which indicate that a Russian increase in military actions are imminent and they’re not.”
US Major General John R. O’Connor told AFP Monday that the arrival of these weapons will “demonstrate resolve to President (Vladimir) Putin and Russia that collectively we can come together”.
The weapon transfer comes amid tensions between the US and Russia over the Ukrainian crisis. Western governments accuse Russia of destabilizing Ukraine by supporting pro-Russian forces there, an allegation Moscow has repeatedly denied.

Editor: What Baltic states and Europeans should fear is NATO and America. Anything is possible when the U.S. government and special interests want war. And U.S./NATO seem to be “taking over” these countries.

Brzezinski says U.S. must send troops and weapons to stop Russia

Zbigniew Brzezinski, U.S. President Obama’s friend and advisor on Russia, is a born Polish aristocrat who has hated Russia his whole life but who hid that hatred until after the communist Soviet Union collapsed and he then publicly came out as hating and fearing specifically Russia — the nation, its people, and their culture. In 1998, he wrote The Grand Chessboard, arguing for an unchallengeable U.S. empire over the whole world, and for the defeat of Russia as the prerequisite to enabling that stand-alone global American empire to reign over the planet.

He now has told the U.S. Congress (on February 6th but not reported until March 6th, when the German Economic News found the clip) that Russia’s leader Vladimir Putin “seized” Crimea and that Putin will probably try to do the same to Estonia and Latvia, unless the U.S. immediately supplies weapons and troops to those countries and to Ukraine. Here is his stunning testimony (click on the link under it, to hear it, but the key part is quoted in print below):

“I wonder how many people in this room or this very important senatorial committee really anticipated that one day Putin would land military personnel in Crimea and seize it. I think if anybody said that’s what he is going to do, he or she would be labeled as a warmonger. He did it. And he got away with it. I think he’s also drawing lessons from that. And I’ll tell you what my horror, night-dream, is: that one day, I literally mean one day, he just seizes Riga, and Talinn. Latvia and Estonia. It would literally take him one day. There is no way they could resist. And then we will say, how horrible, how shocking, how outrageous, but of course we can’t do anything about it. It’s happened. We aren’t going to assemble a fleet in the Baltic, and then engage in amphibious landings, and then storm ashore, like in Normandy, to take it back. We have to respond in some larger fashion perhaps, but then there will be voices that this will plunge us into a nuclear war.”

He continues there by saying that we must pour weapons and troops into the nations that surround Russia, in order to avoid a nuclear conflict: deterrence, he argues, is the way to peace; anything else than our sending in troops and weapons now would be weakness and would invite World War III.

He says that American troops must be prepositioned in these countries immediately, because otherwise Putin will think that America won’t respond to a Russian attack against those countries.

The most serious falsehoods in his remarkable testimony are three, and they’ll be taken up here in succession: Continue reading

US military vehicles paraded 300 yards from the Russian border

[Excerpt]

MOSCOW: U.S. military combat vehicles paraded Wednesday through an Estonian city that juts into Russia, a symbolic act that highlighted the stakes for both sides amid the worst tensions between the West and Russia since the Cold War.

US-NATO military convoy of tanks and armored vehicles rolling along Estonia-Russia border

In the video below you can see a long column of military vehicles, including tanks and armored cars. This column, according to the caption, was filmed on 23 February in the border city of Narva, Estonia, The city is located on a reservoir that provides St. Petersburg [electric] power.

UPDATE: The following video is no longer available, scroll down and click the second video Video:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MLUiYaNcfkk – 06:27 min — Танки и бронетехника, военный конвой под флагами США. Нарва. Эстония, 23.02.2015

What is striking about these images is that this military convoy is openly displayed to the public.

Some vehicles are harboring US flags.

U.S. tanks in Narva, on Russia’s border

The convoy is crossing the city [of Narva within less than a kilometer  from the Russian border].  It can be filmed by anybody. [Note the picture below, Estonia on the left.  Russia on the right on the other side of the bridge].

It is a symbol of military superiority.  [Or is it ? Rather low tech in terms of military technology]

You can imagine how Putin might feel in this regard, [a US-NATO convoy] close to his former power base of Saint Petersburg. That might well be the underlying intent [of this military convoy].

This may be part of a major NATO exercise to be held in the area. The Netherlands is also involved.

Of course, NATO military exercises can occur anywhere. But why specifically are they taking place in Estonia [at Russia’s doorstep]? And why are they displaying American flags right on the Russian border? And why now, with the resurgence of war in Ukraine? (See map right of the city of Narva, Russia’s border town Ivangorod is on the other side of the River).

According to NATO, Putin has a destabilizing influence in the Baltics, and the Cold war is increasingly becoming a Hot War.

Lange Amerikaanse colonne aan Russische grens Estland. (Video)
