Photographs: U.S., Lithuania hold war games near Russian border

Another example: the U.S. and South Korea hold frequent war games next to North Korea. Yet, anything North Korea does is termed an act of aggression, while South Korea and the United States are only supposedly engaged in benign activity, even though their exercises involved simulated invasions of North Korea.

This type of intimidation and threat should be completely unacceptable to all good people.

Norway is ready to help training Ukrainian army – Defence Minister

“Norway is ready to help with training the Ukrainian military,” Defense Minister Ine Eriksen Sjoreide said in an interview with The Guardian.

She said the majority of NATO member countries would hopefully follow the example of the UK that had announced sending non-lethal equipment and 75 military instructors to Ukraine. Poland is also planning to send its military instructors. The Polish Defence Ministry said on Thursday the final decision would be made in March. Meanwhile, the U.S. Department of Defence has announced that a group of military experts will shortly travel to Ukraine to assist in training military doctors.

VICENZA, Italy: “I want to talk you today about Strong Europe,” said Lt. Gen. Ben Hodges, commander of U.S. Army Europe, speaking to paratroopers assigned to the 173rd Airborne Brigade here on Feb. 24, 2015, about their role in Europe and what they represent.

“Think of it in terms of people, places and things,” said Hodges. “The people, that’s all of you paratroopers. You all play a vital role and we want to continue that.”

During his visit, Hodges observed the brigade’s preparation for its scheduled training mission in western Ukraine, providing feedback for paratroopers who will train the newly-formed Ukrainian National Guard.

Hodges emphasized the important role the 173rd Airborne plays in enabling the NATO Alliance through multinational exercises.

“When you train in all these exercises with your allies, you build relationships,” he said, referring to the brigade’s participation in exercises such as Operation Atlantic Resolve and the upcoming Swift Response and Saber Junction. “It is U.S. Army Europe’s contribution to Europe on behalf of the Army, NATO and all the components that we support.”

Strong Europe represents the strategic framework that Hodges introduced since taking command last year of the approximately 30,000 Soldiers forward stationed in Europe.

Training allows paratroopers from the 173rd to exercise their own quick-response procedures. As the Army’s Contingency Response Force in Europe, the brigade maintains the ability to deploy on short notice to conduct the full spectrum of operations across the U.S. European, Africa and Central Command areas of responsibility.

Russian bloggers analyze Nemtsov’s murder

Excerpts from Fort Russ

Eduard_456:

Wikipedia knew about the murder an hour early:

The West is connected to his death, which is just another provocation. There is no point for Putin to kill Nemtstov.

He did not present any danger to the Kremlin with his rating of 4-5%. You could perhaps blame the authorities if Navalny was killed, but Nemtsov is not a figure of that magnitude. This is first. And second, if Putin really wanted to kill him, then I am sure as a former KGB agent, he wouldn’t work so unprofessionally. For example, Boris Nemtsov would die in a car crash, or from a heart attack, but no one in the Kremlin would think of putting some bullets into him.

By the way, judging by the reaction of Obama and Poroshenko, we can see who benefited from the death of this politician. Also the murder of Nemtsov was denounced by head of MFA of Canada and deputy secretary general of NATO. The last one said, its a loss of freedom for Russia. I am sure, by morning, other Western politicians will join. Please tell me, why is it their business? And would they be so vocal if a communist or nationalist politician was killed? [and they were killed in Ukraine to a complete silence in the West – KR] I am sure, not.

Either way, this murder will be used to shake the boat in the country. Already came reports to cancel the liberal march of “Spring”, and replace it with a funeral march exactly in the center of Moscow. I hope the authorities will not allow any such marches in the center of Russia’s capital. If these marches are prohibited to the patriots, then they should be banned to the liberals. Especially that there is more harm from the last than from the patriotic forces.

Tertiaroma:

Is junta the mastermind of Nemtsov’s murder?

“It should be noted that the wave of the charges of the Russian leaders in the crime comes not from Russia, – said the head of the Center for political analysis Pavel Danilin, – even the most radical Russian liberals stick to condolences and are not in a hurry with the accusations.”

But the Ukrainian Internet space is full of real hysteria which cannot be overlooked. “The first direct charges of murder appeared in the Ukrainian blogs and media, – said Danilin, -moreover Ukraine immediately remembered the recent interview of Nemtsov to “Sobesednik” in which he says, that the authorities will kill him, but the existence of this interview proves that the government is the last, who benefits from the murder of this politician.

“Russian authorities are in principle not interested in killing any prominent politician, and especially this one, not such a bad guy,” says the analyst. – He is a bad politician, but not a very bad person. His murder could not add any weight and strength to anyone. No one at all”.

For me it is quite obvious that this is a provocation, totally from the outside – a murder committed either directly by the intelligence services of Ukraine, or in the interests of Ukraine, expressed Pavel Danilin.

How terrifying to be a liberal today

To the altar of the struggle for the bright ideals of the revolution, in the name of prosperity of the hegemon of all progressive mankind, his Majesty the Dollar, another sacrifice is brought.

“Just-in-time”… the script has been perfected in detail. And if you’re ready to join the ranks of Obama-lovers and Putin-bashers, you must be ready that you, too, at any time, will be sacrificed, and only your task in this fight will be to die as dramatically as possible… don’t want to? And he didn’t want to, and the “heavenly hundred”, I’m sure, didn’t want to…

Who wants to die, when you are fighting for life? When and who wanted to accept death at the hands of those who guided you and blessed you in this struggle? But it is necessary, and that’s it! The script is old, and there is no reason to change the plot.

Died a man, with whom I personally strongly disagreed. And did not agree precisely because I can’t stand the smell of sulfur that just reeks of “our foreign partners” and his sponsors. And he thought – he will be lucky… wasn’t… And many more will not be, because a single victim does not impress nobody. A revolution needs mass sacrifices, and the sacrifices must be correct, ideologically sustained. Continue reading

Nemtsov murder; Putin warned about this type of “false flag” two years ago

From the Saker, February 28, 2015

Already in February 2012 (two years ago!) Putin was warning Russians about exactly the kind of false flag which we just saw happening with the murder of Nemtsov.  See for yourself:

Note: the Russian word “provocatsiia” is often translated as “provocation” which is not incorrect as long as you are aware that in Russian “provocation” can mean “false flag”, as it does in this context.  Putin is clearly warning about a false flag “sacrifice”.

This video was emergency-translated by one of our “brother in arms”, Tatzhit, to whom I am most grateful for this ultra-rapid translation.

As for the “liberal” or “democratic” “non-system” opposition it has already announced that it will convert the planned protest into a memorial rally.

We will keep you posted.

Investigators are considering multiple scenarios of Nemtsov’s murder

Posted on Fort Russ

2/27/2015
Preliminary scenarios have appeared in the Boris Nemtsov murder case.

 Translated from Russian by J.Hawk

Investigators are considering a personal motive scenario of the killing, as well as an contract killing by the Ukrainian sponsors of Nemtsov.

Izvestia reports that the investigators are considering several possible scenarios of Nemtsov’s murder. They are not excluding the possibility he was killed for ordinary personal reasons.

“The young woman who was with Nemtsov at the moment of his murder is a citizen of Ukraine. We have established that she recently flew from Moscow to Switzerland to have an abortion. The investigators are trying to establish whether Nemtsov was her only partner, and we are not excluding the possibility there was a personal conflict over her,” notes a highly placed law enforcement source.

Nemtsov himself went to Ukraine on many occasions and had many contacts with the representatives of the local political and business elites, which represent the “party of war.”

“They could have given him means to destabilize the situation in Russia. They could have well expected him to use the money to create a schism within the Russian society. However, there was no schism, rather the opposite—there was a consolidation. Once they realized there was no result the sponsors decided to get rid of the politician who could not carry out his task,” the same source describes the second scenario.

The third scenario also has political character.

“This could have been a contract killing whose objective was to strike a blow against the government through a provocation. Both internal and external adversaries may have chosen their “victim” to destabilize the situation in Russia. Nevertheless, one must express surprise at the choice of the target. Given the record-high popularity of the current government, Nemtsov was little more than an average person who played a minimal role in society,” states the law enforcement source.

Those and other scenarios will be thoroughly investigated by the law enforcement.

As a reminder, Nemtsov was killed on Friday night in the center of Moscow on the Bolshoy Moskvoretskiy bridge.

According to preliminary information, the killer fired at least seven times at Nemtsov, hitting him in the back, then left the scene. Nemtsov died on the scene. The young woman who was with him was not injured.

J.Hawk’s Comment: I suppose the fourth scenario would be that the Russian government had him killed, but that one is the least plausible of all. This is simply not how politics are conducted in Russia these days. Of the scenarios above, the personal motive actually sounds the most plausible at the moment. It seems unlikely that Nemtsov could have obtained large sums of money and disposed of them without attracting anyone’s notice. Even if he did misuse them, why kill him? He would still be useful to the Ukrainians alive. There’s always a possibility Ukraine’s “war party” needed a martyr, of course, so their involvement cannot be ruled out entirely.

However, in the end, it does not seem coincidental that the young woman in question, a 23-year-old actress-model Anna Duritskaya, a native of Kiev, was with Nemtsov at the moment of his killing. She might have had other lovers; she most likely has relatives. At least one of them might not have been happy with her lifestyle choice. Moreover, a contract killer would have likely a) not needed to fire seven shots and b) would not have left a live witness on the scene.

Breaking news: possible false flag in Moscow; opposition leader murdered

Reports are just beginning to come in on this story. Below is an article from the Saker. With the visit by Andriy Parubiy to Washington DC requesting arms, and media messages like this editorial in the Washington Post, the murder of Boris Nemtsov will be used as further “proof” against Russia in the fiction created by U.S. and NATO leadership.

From Vineyard of the Saker
February 27, 2015

Boris Nemtsov has been shot dead in Moscow.  He was one of the most charismatic leaders of the “liberal” or “democratic” “non-system” opposition in Russia (please understand that in the Russian context “liberal” and “democratic” means pro-US or even CIA-run, while “non-system” means too small to even get a single deputy in the Duma).  He was shot just a few days before the announced demonstration of the very same “liberal” or “democratic” “non-system” opposition scheduled for March 1st.

Nemtsov with Yushchenko

As I have already explained many times on this blog, the “liberal” or “democratic” “non-system” opposition in Russia has a popular support somewhere in the range of 5% (max). In other words, it is politically *dead* (for a detailed explanation, please read “From Napoleon to Adolf Hitler to Conchita Wurst“).  In the hopes of getting a higher number of people to the streets the “liberal” or “democratic” “non-system”opposition allied itself with the ultra-nationalists (usually useful idiots for the CIA) and the homosexual activists (also useful idiots for the CIA).  Apparently, this was not enough.

And now, in *perfect* timing, Nemtsov is murdered.

We all know the reaction of the AngloZionists and their propaganda machine.  It will be exactly the same as for MH-17: Putin the Murderer!!! Democracy Shot!! Freedom Killed!! etc. etc. etc. etc.

There is no doubt in my mind at all that either this is a fantastically unlikely but always possible case of really bad luck for Putin and Nemtsov was shot by some nutcase or mugged, or this was a absolutely prototypical western false flag: you take a spent politician who has no credibility left with anyone with an IQ over 70, and you turn him into an instant “martyr for freedom, democracy, human right and civilization”.

By the way if, as I believe, this is a false flag, I expect it to be a stunning success in the West and a total flop in Russia: by now, Russians already can smell that kind of setup a mile away and after MH-17 everybody was expecting a false flag.  So, if anything, it will only increase the hostility of Russians towards the West and rally them around Putin.  In the Empire, however, this will be huge, better than Politkovskaya or Litvinenko combined.  A “Nemtsov” prize will be created, a Nemtov statue will be place somewhere (in Warsaw?), the US Congress will pass a “Nemtsov law” and the usual combo package of “democratic hagiography” will be whipped-up.

What worries me most is that the Russian security services did not see this one coming and let it happen.  This is a major failure for the FSB which will now have a lot at stake to find out who did it.  I expect them to find a fall-guy, a patsy, who will have no provable contacts with any western services and who, ideally, might even have some contacts with the Russian services (like Andrei Lugovoi).

As for the “liberal” or “democratic” “non-system” – it will probably re-brand the upcoming protests as a “tribute to Nemtsov” thereby getting more people into the streets.

There are folks in Langley [CIA headquarters] tonight who got a promotion.

Ukraine’s Strategic Food Reserve…runs out of food

Posted on Fort Russ

2/26/2015
Ukraine State Reserve doesn’t even have Azarov’s buckwheat. Everything was stolen.

Translated from Russian by J.Hawk

Ukrainian food prices are rising at a rate faster than in the ‘90s. But the Yatsenyuk government is still blaming the situation on the ignorance of the population and speculation by supermarket chains.

They used to blame currency exchangers, now they are blaming supermarket directors. However, you can’t feed the people with such tales.

The government’s “economy block” hastily summoned the director of the Ukrainian State Reserve Vladimir Zhukov. They demanded that he open the storehouses and fill the shelves with flour, sugar, canned meat, and buckwheat from its stores. In response the keeper of Motherland’s strategic stores revealed a terrible military secret to Yatsenyuk and Poroshenko: the storehouses are empty.

It could hardly have been news to the Prime Minister: already in January he ordered to open up the State Reserve, including its stores of medicines. However, already by then the medical stores amounted to only portable first aid kits and medicinal preparations and expired (dating back to the 1960s) bandages, cotton, hypodermics, which even African countries refused to accept even though Ukraine was giving them away for free.

In addition, once combat operations resumed the State Reserve sent to the front everything that it could: steel plates, spare parts, tents, heaters, mattresses. All of that was stored by the “Yanukovych band”, but the strategic reserve came in handy for the new government.

The last time the strategic reserve was cleaned out so thoroughly was during the Chernobyl disaster, when the reserve sent steel plates, diesel fuel, gas masks and protective equipment, medicine and food. Moreover, most of the goods were sent from Donetsk. The other storehouses, for example, in Kharkov, store four, or petroleum and diesel fuel, as in Chernigov region. However, all gasoline and kerosene from the state reserve was used up already six months ago.

Medicines were cleared out in January, supposedly as humanitarian aid to Donbass.

Now it’s the turn of food stores, in order to calm down the rioting Kievans and prevent hunger rebellions. But, alas. Last year’s entire harvest was sold abroad, the acreage for new sowing season was reduced by 30%. The storehouses are the only remaining hope.

For example, there is a large food storehouse on the outskirts of Kiev, which contains frozen mean, butter, canned meat, sugar. Incidentally, this storehouse has existed since before WW2, it was the first Kiev target struck by the Luftwaffe in order to destroy the strategic food stores.

The Ukrainian government did not need airstrikes: the food reserve is empty only one year after it took power, as a result of several changes among the management of the reserve, and the theft and sale of its contents. The proceeds, of course, were already split. No doubt even the top leadership of the country got its cut.

As a reminder, the former Prime Minister Azarov filled the Strategic Reserve with Chinese buckwheat, which earned him considerable criticism. One of the former managers of the agency, a Party of Regions official by the name of Lelyuk, carried out reforms, refurbished obsolescent factories, and filled the storehouses with flour, evaporated milk, canned meat and fish, sugar, and gasoline.

Now that the “H-Hour” is here, it turns out it’s all gone: all the food has “gone to the front”, since the army is also being supplied partly by the State Reserve, since MOD and State Reserve storehouses have been merged.

Having learned of the empty shelves not only in the stores but also in the State Reserve, Poroshenko reportedly went into shock. He fumed and demanded the management to find something and throw a few crumbs to the Kievans.

Yatsenyuk maintained icy composure: he was better informed about the state of affairs, since the State Reserve is under his “patronage” as it is part of the Cabinet of Ministers.

It would seem Ukraine’s Black Hour is here.

J.Hawk’s Comment: There indeed were earlier reports that the strategic reserve was being “unsealed” to support military operations on the Donbass.  The army has to eat, after all, and maintaining several tens of thousands of soldiers for nearly a year is likely to make a dent. The second factor was the junta’s desperate need to earn hard currency to somehow plug up the many budget holes opened up by its adoption of “European Choice” neoliberal economic policies. Therefore anything that could be sold, was sold, including Mariupol’s huge grain reserves. Finally, there’s the small matter of corruption. One gets the impression Ukraine is a giant organized style “bust-out” operation, whose objective is to stash as much loot in foreign accounts and then leave the mess for someone else to clean up. To say that the Kiev junta has some kind of a strategy would be giving them entirely too much credit. It’s a collection of loosely coordinated individuals pursuing their own venal agendas and living hand-to-mouth, without any thought given to Ukraine’s long-term prospects.
