Iraqi forces and affiliated Shiite militias are accused of ethnic cleansing and mass atrocities in Iraq, under the cover of fighting to liberate territory from Daesh.

On Monday, the Iraqi Army announced plans to begin an offensive to retake the city of Fallujah from Daesh forces. The heavily-populated Iraqi city was the first to fall to the extremist group in 2014, but in recent months Iraqi forces have been able to sharply reduce the militants’ stronghold over the city.

The city also played site for one of the bloodiest battles following the US-led invasion of Iraq, leading to mass casualties of US service members and leaving a once-prominent city in ruins.

Following the ouster of Saddam Hussein, Fallujah, like many other multicultural cities in the country, descended into sectarian strife leading then-Senator Joe Biden to call for the partitioning of Iraq in 2006.

The Sunni-dominated city faced the worst of the systematic effort to expunge loyalists of Saddam Hussein’s secular Ba’ath Party, in a process now known as de-baathification, from positions within the Iraqi government, including ordinary social sector positions in education, medicine, and engineering.

The once prominent Sunni middle class found themselves the subject of persecution at the hands of the Shia-led government, and violent Shiite militias, notably Muqtada al-Sadr’s Mahdi Army.

The widespread alienation of Sunnis and the repeated violent tides of ethnic cleansing by Shiite militias forced many secular Sunnis into league with the violent Daesh extremist group, whose Iraqi branch is now dominated by a cadre of former Saddam Hussein loyalists.

With the government unravelling in Iraq, and the violent Mahdi army once again threatening to seize control of the country, the situation has been described as waves of ethnic cleansing by competing and increasingly extremist sectarian militias – the Mahdi Army, supported by Iraqi forces on the Shia side, and Daesh, along with al-Qaeda, on the Sunni side.

In this descent into social cataclysm, the Iraqi army, along with loosely-affiliated Shia militias, looks to ‘liberate’ Fallujah, using American weapons and support, but with many residents of the Daesh-occupied city fearing another violent round of ethnic cleansing. On Tuesday, Loud & Clear’s Brian Becker sat down with Iraqi-American and foreign policy analyst Raed Jarrar to discuss the latest offensive.

Has the offensive on Daesh-controlled Fallujah begun?

“The news coming from Iraq indicates that there are no signs that the offensive has begun yet, but the Iraqi government has announced its intentions to start an offensive,” explained Jarrar. “US sources have been denying that any operations have started taking place so there is some confusion about that.”

The foreign policy analyst observed that people remaining in Fallujah are frightened by the Iraqi forces and affiliated militias, who they believe will use the presence of Daesh as a cover for ethnic cleansing.

“Militias affiliated with the Iraqi forces have made shocking announcements of late, calling Fallujah a cancer that has to be cut out, and these proclamations are concerning because the militias have committed war crimes when they attacked towns controlled by ISIS in the past,” said Jarrar. “There is a real concern that the anticipated attacks on Fallujah will follow the pattern of abuses committed by Iraqi forces and affiliated militias in the past.”

What do they mean by ‘liberating’ Fallujah? Ramadi was ‘liberated’ but there was nothing left.

“There was a report by Human Rights Watch that came out last year that was titled ‘After Liberation Came Destruction.’ The word liberation is a very problematic word in this context,” said Jarrar. “Human Rights Watch reported the premeditated and systematic way that Iraqi forces and militias took towns back from ISIS and destroyed towns, committing ethnic cleansing. They targeted some ethnicities against other ethnicities, demolished homes of some sects and kept homes of other sects.”

“I expect that this is just another campaign of ethnic cleansing and they are using ISIS as a pretext to enter these towns and bombard them,” said Jarrar. “This is a premeditated policy of destruction and ethnic cleansing that the Iraqi government has been following since 2003.”

Where should forces attack to get a handle on the unravelling situation in Iraq?

“From my point of view, that is not the discussion that we should be having. It is not about which city to bombard first or what city to allow the US and its allies to bomb first,” said Jarrar. “That is why I wanted to comment on the word ‘liberate,’ because it implies that there is a legitimate force that will come in to kick out an illegitimate group. That is not the situation in Iraq. Iraq has many extremist and violent groups, including the government forces.”

“If the United States wants to give good advice to Iraq, then we need to start by stopping support to groups and the Iraqi government, that have been committing mass violations of human rights, funding these groups is illegal under US and international law,” said Jarrar. “We continue to give funds and weapons to groups committing atrocities in Iraq.”

Jaraa claimed that a more meaningful solution to the ongoing sectarian violence in Iraq and throughout the region, would be to focus on policies of division and persecution that pit groups against each other, likening the violence committed by Shia militias to that committed by Daesh, which he referred to as a similar force on the Sunni side.

“The idea of getting rid of all these things will not include dropping more bombs on Iraq, it will not make the country more peaceful and it will not make these groups more moderate. It will actually make more death and destruction and that is what the US has been doing in Iraq since 1991,” stated Jarrar.

Daesh is blocking Fallujah residents from leaving while the Iraqis demand that they leave – what will happen to the civilians?

“They are the ones that pay the hefty price and many of them have been paying a heavy price, not as a consequence of violence, but because that is the actual goal of violence – displacement,” explained Jarrar. “The Iraqi militias, especially those affiliated with the Iraqi government, have been implementing a plan of systematic displacement to gain more territory for their own group.”

“This is a different analysis than you receive in the mainstream media that the violence is part of the medicine, part of the solution, and the US has to support attacks on Fallujah and Mosul because this is the way to get rid of the bad guys and liberate these towns,” explained Farrar.

“That is not what is going on in the real world. In the real world this is more violence that has illegitimate agendas to displace more Iraqi and create more sectarian enclaves,” he said.

Throughout the world, on any given day, a man, woman, or child is likely to be displaced, tortured, killed or “disappeared”, at the hands of governments or armed political groups.  More often than not, the United States shares the blame.

The US stands today as both the world’s – and history’s – largest empire.  Thus, to understand empire, we can study the attributes of the US.

The US:

  • Has more foreign military bases than any country in world history – the number is estimated to be approximately 1,000 to 1,100, though the US doesn’t take kindly to even satirical requests for other countries to put bases or foreign soldiers on US soil; see here.  No other country has a remotely comparable amount of foreign bases.  Russia has 12.  China has 0 (and see here).  The organization that had the second highest number of foreign bases in human history was the British Empire, which, at its height, had 40.
  • Came into existence and achieved its economic power through slavery and genocide, and has been waging expansionist war for nearly 100% of the time since.

 

  • Spends more on violence and means of violence (such as weapons and foreign military bases) than the rest of the world combined.  “One year of the United States military budget is equal to more than 30,000 dollars per hour for every hour since the birth of Jesus Christ.”  (Blum)  In 2014, the USA spent approximately 1.2 million dollars per minute on violence and means of violence.  (China is second highest, at less than one sixth of that in 2012.)  As every violent group in history has said, the US frames its violence and terror as being for “stability”.  Stability, in this usage, means conditions that benefit the conqueror (see here).  These are conditions that, to be reached, require mass, violent destabilization, which produces widespread carnage, as in the US attacks on Korea (millions of deaths; South Koreans finally overthrew the US-backed dictator in 1987), Vietnam (untold millions of deaths), Iran (millions of deaths), Iraq (millions of deaths), Afghanistan (millions of deaths), and many others.
  • Stockpiles more Weapons of Mass Destruction than all other nations combined, and, in defiance of the rest of the world, plans to weaponize and nuclearize outer space to increase its “full spectrum dominance”, regardless of the catastrophes that will almost inevitably result.  (The space around our planet is filled with satellites and debris.  Any explosion in that region will cause this debris to hurtle out of control, rendering the region useless for helpful technologies on which we rely.)  (Here)
  • Since WW2, has used more Weapons of Mass Destruction than all other nations combined.  Many of these weapons are indiscriminate, which can mean that simply to use them is to commit terrorism.  (Here)
  • Has up to 10,000 nuclear weapons, the most of the nuclear countries.  Obama is currently illegally spending 1 to 1.5 trillion on nuclear weapons, more than any other president by far.  International law requires immediate nuclear disarmament.  While spending these illegal trillions, Obama is also allowing for water to illegally be shut off to poor residents of Detroit.  (Here)
  • Is the world’s biggest violator of international nuclear law.  (Here)

 

  • Sells 70% of the total weapons sold on the worldwide weapons-dealing market.  Current biggest recipients of US tax money and/or weapons are Israel, which has up to 400 illegal nuclear weapons, regularly attacks other countries, and is carrying out an ethnic cleansing and colonization campaign in Palestine, and Saudi Arabia, which is the most “significant source of funding to Sunni terrorist groups worldwide,” including Al Qaeda, Al Nusra, and the Taliban, and apparently helped sponsor the 9/11/01 attacks against the US.  The US sold arms or military services to well over 100 nations in 2008, and during the two Bush terms the majority of US arms sales to the third world went to countries that the US State Department defined as undemocratic regimes and/or major human rights abusers.
  • Currently under Obama, the top ten recipients of US aid are all torture regimes, because torture is one of the many anti-democratic methods of enforcing empire, and is necessary to terrorize and repress democracy since, to quote war criminal and Obama mentor Zbigniew Brzezinski, “democracy is inimical to empire”.

 

  • Has overthrown or attempted to overthrow about 62 countries, the majority of them democracies, since it became a global power after WW2.  Recent US-backed overthrows of democracies include Honduras in 2009 (Obama/Clinton) and Paraguay in 2012 (Obama/Clinton).  Recent US-backed crushing of democratic uprisings include the 2011 Arab Spring uprisings in Bahrain, where the US-backed family dictatorship is, according to Amnesty International, systematically torturing children as part of its repression and terrorism against the population.  More on why the USA supports terrorism and war in one country, such as Syria, but simultaneously crushes an Arab Spring uprising in another country, such as Bahrain, here and here.  More on the USA’s history of terrorism/imperialism against Syria, here.  (Imperialism is what empires do – it means the strong using an unequal relationship, i.e. superior weapons, force, wealth, propaganda, and the like, to coerce or forcefully influence the weak for the benefit of the strong.)
  • Since 1776, has invaded some 80 foreign nations.
  • Regularly wages war of aggression, which is the supreme international crime (meaning it includes and is worse than terrorism, ethnic cleansing, torture, etc.), and which includes all evils that follow as a result, meaning fighting due to instability, displacement of persons, etc.  “In the 64 years since the end of WWII, [the USA] ha[s] started and fought far more wars and invaded and bombed more countries than any other nation in the world — not even counting the numerous wars fought by… clients and proxies.  Those are just facts.”  The USA always uses its history of contributing to fighting Hitler (after supporting him – Germany declared war on the US, not the converse – and sustaining his aggression) as a justification for subsequent US acts of aggression.  The justification does not take into account that the USA acted aggressively before WW2 (George Washington called the USA a “nascent empire”), for the same reasons it has done so since WW2: to destroy conditions that limit US control and profit margins, and to create conditions to increase US control and profit margins (by, for example, forcing populations to be cheap tools of US international industry – expendable, uneducated, and given the minimum possible amount of sustenance, so the maximum amount of profit and luxury go to the owners, whose investment is protected by local proxy forces and backed by the US military).  “The greatest crime since World War II has been U.S. foreign policy.” – Former US Attorney General Ramsey Clark
  • Has tortured virtually non-stop since colonizers tortured the Native Americans.  This continues up to today, under Bush and now Obama, who protects, supports, and mandates torture (see here).
  • Kills and mercilessly mutates (with various chemical, radioactive, and other weapons) millions of people around the world.
  • Kills indiscriminately, which is terrorism.  Uses weapons (such as WMD) that are by their nature indiscriminate, which can be terrorism.  “Reaper” drone “Hellfire” missiles, for example, have a kill or injury radius of 60 feet, making their use potentially indiscriminate, depending on where they are used.  Their use very often results in the murder of civilians and unknown people, meaning they are used indiscriminately, which is terrorism – not to mention that bombing other countries is illegal.  The USA’s disgraceful chemical warfare in Vietnam indiscriminately targeted and killed or harmed millions of Vietnamese people.  (Imagine if China sprayed 20,000,000 gallons of toxic chemicals, including some of the most toxic known in science, and dumped 373,000 tons of napalm over the USA, and refused to acknowledge or pay compensation for the resulting murders, birth defects and health problems that resulted: see here.)
  • Intentionally targets civilians for murder or collective punishment as a way of influencing them or their government, which is terrorism.  For example, the USA’s terrorist sanctions against the people of Cuba are, as is stated in internal US government dialogue, intended to hurt Cuban civilians and induce them to overthrow their government.  US siege and criminal bombings against Iraq in the 1990s, continuing through the 2000s, knowingly and, evidence strongly indicates, intentionally targeted civilians and murdered from 500,000 to 1,000,000 (or more) Iraqis, mainly children under the age of five.  In the USA’s Operation Phoenix in Vietnam, the US intentionally hunted and murdered 70,000 civilians, while overall torturing or disappearing 80,000 in this single operation (see here).
  • Constantly makes threats of force against countries like Iran and Syria.  Threats of force are strictly and patently illegal under international law, including the UN charter, article 2(4) (see here), which is supreme law of the US.  Threats of violence are acts of terrorism.  Terrorism means using violence or the threat of violence to influence people or governments.  Threats of violence also constitute use of dictatorial force.
  • Installs and/or supports military dictators (from Pinchet in Chile to Ceaușescu in Romania to Suharto in Indonesia, and dozens of others) who comply with the US material and political agenda of preventing democracy (rule of the people) and keeping authoritarian control in the hands of ruling elites that allow the US to control and exploit populations and natural resources, to maximize profit margins for US international companies.  This forceful maintenance of control is called hegemony.  With the USA as the world’s dominant hegemonic power, global poverty has risen faster than population, and the top zero point one percent of the world’s population has 81% of the world’s financial wealth.  The richest 85 individuals possess more wealth than the poorest 50 percent of the world’s population—3.5 billion people.  “Th[e] need to maintain social stability for our investments accounts for the… action of American forces…” – Martin Luther King, Jr.
  • Assassinates people and political leaders around the world.  Since WWII the U.S. has been involved in the assassination or intended assassination of over 50 prominent foreign individuals in various nations.  See here.
  • Censors the media to prevent it from showing the realities of US wars of aggression, including images of dead US soldiers and coffins containing dead soldiers.
  • Vetoes, by far, more UN resolutions than any other country.  Included are numerous US vetoes, essentially in opposition to the entire world, against resolutions calling for conventions on women’s rights, ending South African Apartheid, ending the illegal US embargo of Cuba, and ending Israel’s illegal presence in and blockades of Palestinian territories.

 

  • Donates less of the required percentage to the UN than any other country in the world.  When the first Secretary General of the UN condemned the West (US, UK, France, and Belgium) for trying to maintain colonial dictate over the Congo, the Secretary General was murdered.  Just before he died, he said “It is better for the United Nations to lose the support of the United States because it [the UN] is faithful to law and principles, than to survive as an agent whose activities are geared to political purposes.”  When Secretary General Kofi Annan declared the 2003 US invasion of Iraq to be illegal, there was a concerted effort to label him a “crook” and discredit him.  He was vindicated of all smears by an independent commission.  (here)
  • Is isolationist (by the actual definition): The USA stands virtually alone in almost all of its positions at the UN, such as continuing its illegal sanctions against Cuba and blocking the international consensus for a resolution to Israel’s colonization of Palestine (see here).  It stands alone in its brutal war-making: support for the US invasion of Iraq barely reached above 11% anywhere in the world.  Numbers were similar for the US invasion of Afghanistan.  The handful of countries that supported the US in those invasions did so as dictatorships – in complete defiance of nearly their entire populations (see here).
  • Claims to wage wars on various things such as drugs and terrorism, while being a leading drug state (see here, here, here, here) and a (if not the – see here) leading terrorist state (see here, here, here, here, and here).  Examples of the hypocrisy include: 1) At the same time as invading places like Panama (an invasion that killed the per capita equivalent of what would be over 500,000 people in the US) and massacring civilians for claimed “war on drug” pretexts, the USA threatens places like Thailand with sanctions if it puts barriers on US cigarette imports; tobacco is the world’s most lethal drug, expected to kill a billion people in the 21st century.  2) In terms of terrorism, the USA has been complicit in the deaths of millions of people, in the Middle East alone, just since 1979 – incomparably more than any other group, and arguably constituting genocide, particularly against Iraq (see here) and Iran (see here).
  • Loots and harms the areas under its control: “…the US lost most of its influence in Latin America over the past 15 years, and the region has done quite well, with a sharp reduction in poverty for the first time in decades. The Washington-based International Monetary Fund has also lost most of its influence over the middle-income countries of the world, and these have also done remarkably better in the 2000s.”
  • Internally, the USA has by far the world’s highest rate of imprisonment, but not the world’s highest crime rates.  USA has 5% of the world’s population, but 25% of the world’s prison population.
  • Has a for-profit prison slave/labor system, and lobbyists that work to maintain and add obscure laws to keep their prisons full and profits flowing.  Dozens of corporations taking advantage of prison labor include Starbucks, McDonalds, Boeing, and Victoria’s secret.  More here.
  • Minority defendants are charged with and convicted of violent crimes requiring a mandatory minimum prison sentence far more often than non-minorities.
  • Is the only country in the world that refuses to ratify the Convention on the Rights of the Child.  The only other previous holdouts, Somalia and South Sudan, have now ratified it.
  • Is the only country in the world to veto UN resolutions calling on all states to follow international law.  The resolutions were in reference to the USA being convicted, by the World Court and confirmed at the UN, twice, of waging illegal war of aggression against Nicaragua.  The World Court (ICJ) demanded that the US cease its aggression and pay Nicaragua massive reparations, on the order of 18 billion dollars.  The US responded by saying no, and escalating its war of aggression against Nicaragua.
  • Is the only country in the world where courts give life sentences to people who are found guilty of crimes committed before they turn 18.  The USA only made illegal the execution of juveniles in 2002, and the giving of life without possibility of parole to juveniles in 2012.
  • Executes more citizens than almost any country on Earth.  The USA ranks sometimes as high as number 3, behind only Saudi Arabia (a huge US ally/client) and Iran, (and almost certainly China, though numbers are unknown) for the number of executions it performs on its own citizens.  90% of countries do not perform state executions.
  • Has the worst income inequality in the industrialized world.  The top 1% has almost 40% of the financial wealth, while the bottom 80% have less than 13%.  Much of this is due to corporate welfare, meaning massive transfers of wealth from the poor to elite criminals, such as those running big banks, who are treated as an aristocracy above law.  Big US banks make no profit – all of their profits, usually around 83 billion a year total, come from money taken from taxpayers and transferred directly to these bankers.  See Bloomberg News, here.  These banks have been prosecuted for financial crimes unprecedented in scope and the harm they cause, yet they go virtually unpunished, and on the contrary are rewarded for their crimes (see here and here) and allowed to continue their massive heist of taxpayer money.  No top bankers whose crimes bring about the destruction of the economy are jailed.

 

  • Has the highest first day infant mortality rate in the industrialized world.
  • Ranks in the bottom four of the 29 industrialized countries for child poverty, education, and overall well-being, despite the USA having roughly as many people with fortunes greater than 50 million dollars as the rest of the world combined (approx. 46,000 people in the US).
  • Is not a democracy (country ruled by the people).  The bottom 70% of US citizens have essentially no influence on government policy.  The people making the above choices (such as for prison labor and virtually non-stop aggressive war) are principally the top “tenth of one percent… [these] people essentially get what they want, i.e. they determine [US government] policy. So the proper term for that is not democracy; it’s plutocracy.”

Guatemalan authorities arrest officers trained at U.S. School of the Americas/WHINSEC for massacres, disappearances

In a daring and historic move just one week before a new president takes office, Guatemalan authorities arrested 18 former high-ranking military men Jan. 6 for massacres and forced disappearances during the bloodiest years of the dirty war that particularly targeted indigenous populations.

Most of the arrests resulted from an investigation that exhumed the remains of 558 people — 90 of them children — buried in clandestine mass graves on a military base in Cobán, formerly known as Military Zone 21. DNA testing identified victims who were killed or disappeared by the military in the 1980s. Many of the bodies were blindfolded, bound or dismembered.

Guatemala Attorney General Thelma Aldana called it “one of the biggest cases of forced disappearance in Latin America.”

Records show that 12 of the 18 arrested were trained at the U.S. Army’s School of the Americas (SOA), highlighting the sordid U.S.-support for the war, which spanned from 1960 to 1996 and claimed the lives of some 250,000, many of them women and children.

The most prominent of those arrested are Gens. Benedicto Lucas García, and Gen. Manuel Antonio Callejas y Callejas, both graduates of SOA, now known as the Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation.

In the early 1980s, during the peak of the government’s repression, Lucas Garcia was the army’s Chief of Staff while Callejas y Callejas was the Director of Intelligence.

The arrests came just a week before incoming president Jimmy Morales takes office on Jan. 14. Morales, a former television comedian, ran as the candidate of the National Convergence Front (FCN), a party he co-founded that’s dominated by military officers.

Prosecutors are seeking to arrest Morales’ top aid, Edgar Justino Ovalle Maldonado, on similar charges of crimes against humanity and forced disappearances. Ovalle Maldonado, also an SOA graduate and a FCN co-founder who helped Morales get the FCN’s nomination, currently has immunity as a legislator. But Aldana has appealed to the Supreme Court to revoke his immunity.

Ovalle Maldonado was an Operations Officer at the Cobán military base in 1983, and later the commander of the base, according to Amnesty International. He is reported to have claimed that the mass graves merely served as cemeteries for two towns near the base.

Morales will be succeeding former President Otto Pérez Molina, another SOA graduate, who resigned last September as the result of a popular uprising over government corruption and is now facing bribery charges.

Further heightening the drama is the retrial of former military dictator Gen. Efrain Ríos Montt on charges of genocide. The proceedings begin today (Jan.11) for the SOA graduate, who was convicted of the same charge in 2013, but saw the verdict overturned on a technicality.

Another SOA graduate arrested in the Jan. 6 sweep was Col. Francisco Luis Gordillo Martínez, who helped Ríos Montt overthrow the government in 1982. He, Rios Montt and another SOA graduate formed a junta that created secret tribunals, repealed the constitution, abolished the legislature, and escalated a “scorched earth” policy to wipe out entire villages.

Records show that Gordillo Martinez was a three-time graduate of SOA, graduating from its infantry Weapons and Infantry Tactics programs in the 1960s and from its Command and General Staff College in 1974.

Another SOA graduate — Col. Ricardo Mendez Ruiz — commanded the Cobán military base where the bodies were found from 1980 to 1982, the year he became the Minister of Interior under Rios Montt. Mendez Ruiz died Jan. 1, five days before the arrests began.

Details on the current charges against the 18 officers are sketchy, and limited to the mass graves at the Cobán base and the case of a Guatemala City teenager disappeared in 1981 by the military. But human rights investigators have long documented the human rights records of those arrested.

The Guatemalan Catholic church’s human rights office estimated the number of dead from counterinsurgency operations in 1981 alone to be 11,000, most of whom were indigenous peasants living in the Highlands.

Lucas García took command of the counterinsurgency campaign in the Highlands in October 1981, according to anthropologist Shelton Davis*, writing in Harvest of Violence: The Maya Indians and the Guatemalan Crisis. The campaign, Davis said, was marked by massacres, targeted killings of community leaders, and the burning of houses and fields to terrorize the Indian population into not joining the guerillas.

Callejas y Callejas was arrested in connection with the 1981 disappearance of a Guatemala City teenager, but his tenure as chief of intelligence coincides with the slaughter of thousands of Mayan Indians, the murders of 27 professors, more than 80 union leaders and four priests, including American Fr. Stanley Rother and the failed 1980 attempt to murder Quiche Bishop Juan Gerardi.

As it turned out, Gerardi was assassinated 18 years later, just two days after releasing a four-volume study showing that the military forces were responsible for 90 percent of the atrocities in the war.

Both Lucas García and Callejas y Callejas graduated twice from the SOA. Lucas García was trained in 1965 in combat intelligence while Callejas y Callejas was trained in 1962 in communications. Both men later graduated in 1970 from the school’s elite Command and General Staff College.

Callejas y Callejas rose to become the Armed Forces Chief of Staff, and despite his horrific human rights record, the U.S. State Department approved his induction in 1988 into the School of the America’s Hall of Fame.

The Hall of Fame induction underscored U.S. complicity, says Roy Bourgeois, a former Maryknoll priest who founded the SOA Watch after learning that the school had trained the killers of six Jesuit priests in El Salvador 1989.

In 1990, Bourgeois was arrested after throwing blood on the Hall’s gallery where the portrait of Callejas y Callejas hung alongside that of several Latin American dictators.

The U.S. intervention, he said, was extensive. “Several U.S. administrations trained, advised, funded and armed the Guatemalan military. Many of its military and intelligence officers were on the CIA payroll.”

Bourgeois and other human rights activists have hailed the Guatemalan arrests.

Grahame Russell, co-director of Rights Action, a Canadian NGO engaged in human rights work throughout Central America, called it “an extraordinarily positive step forward” in a country where military impunity has been the rule.

In an interview with the Venezulean-based TeleSUR television network, Russell praised the Guatemalan attorney general for filing a “series of war crimes charges” stemming from “the worst years of the U.S.-backed repression and genocide.”

The filing was especially significant, he said, coming “just as another military-backed president is about to assume the presidency, in this as yet very undemocratic country.” With Morales strong links to the military, Russell believes that the country will likely continue to be “dominated by the same economic elites — national and international — that were in power during the worst years” of the 1970s and 1980s.”

Still, Bourgeois draws hope from the fact, that against all odds, Guatemalans themselves — from the prosecutors to the “courageous survivors and relatives of the disappeared” — have risked their lives to bring the perpetrators to justice.

“They want the truth, and they want it to come out. And they are willing to die for it,” he said. “They’ve waited some 35 years. The strategy of the military has been to keep stalling until those responsible have died off. But there will never be any justice or reconciliation until there is accountability and the perpetrators start going to prison.”

Emails on Hillary Clinton’s rape of Libya reveal French government’s crimes; Where are the trials for Clinton and Sarkozy?

The New Year’s Eve release of over 3000 new Hillary Clinton emails from the State Department has CNN abuzz over gossipy text messages, the “who gets to ride with Hillary” selection process set up by her staff, and how a “cute” Hillary photo fared on Facebook.

But historians of the 2011 NATO war in Libya will be sure to notice a few of the truly explosive confirmations contained in the new emails: admissions of rebel war crimes, special ops trainers inside Libya from nearly the start of protests, Al Qaeda embedded in the U.S. backed opposition, Western nations jockeying for access to Libyan oil, the nefarious origins of the absurd Viagra mass rape claim, and concern over Gaddafi’s gold and silver reserves threatening European currency.

Hillary’s Death Squads

A March 27, 2011 intelligence brief on Libya, sent by long time close adviser to the Clintons and Hillary’s unofficial intelligence gatherer, Sidney Blumenthal, contains clear evidence of war crimes on the  part of NATO-backed rebels. Citing a rebel commander source “speaking in strict confidence” Blumenthal reports to Hillary [emphasis mine]:

Under attack from allied Air and Naval forces, the Libyan Army troops have begun to desert to the rebel side in increasing numbers. The rebels are making an effort to greet these troops as fellow Libyans, in an effort to encourage additional defections.

(Source Comment: Speaking in strict confidence, one rebel commander stated that his troops continue to summarily execute all foreign mercenaries captured in the fighting…).

While the illegality of extra-judicial killings is easy to recognize (groups engaged in such are conventionally termed “death squads”), the sinister reality behind the “foreign mercenaries” reference might not be as immediately evident to most.

While over the decades Gaddafi was known to make use of European and other international security and infrastructural contractors, there is no evidence to suggest that these were targeted by the Libyan rebels.

There is however, ample documentation by journalists, academics, and human rights groups demonstrating that black Libyan civilians and sub-Saharan contract workers, a population favored by Gaddafi in his pro-African Union policies, were targets of “racial cleansing” by rebels who saw black Libyans as tied closely with the regime.[1]

Black Libyans were commonly branded as “foreign mercenaries” by the rebel opposition for their perceived general loyalty to Gaddafi as a community and subjected to torture, executions, and their towns “liberated” by ethnic cleansing. This is demonstrated in the most well-documented example of Tawergha, an entire town of 30,000 black and “dark-skinned” Libyans which vanished by August 2011 after its takeover by NATO-backed NTC Misratan brigades.

These attacks were well-known as late as 2012 and often filmed, as this report from The Telegraph confirms:

After Muammar Gaddafi was killed, hundreds of migrant workers from neighboring states were imprisoned by fighters allied to the new interim authorities. They accuse the black Africans of having been mercenaries for the late ruler. Thousands of sub-Saharan Africans have been rounded up since Gaddafi fell in August.

It appears that Clinton was getting personally briefed on the battlefield crimes of her beloved anti-Gaddafi fighters long before some of the worst of these genocidal crimes took place.

Al-Qaeda and Western Special Forces Inside Libya

The same intelligence email from Sydney Blumenthal also confirms what has become a well known theme of Western supported insurgencies in the Middle East: the contradiction of special forces training militias that are simultaneously suspected of links to Al Qaeda.

Blumenthal relates that “an extremely sensitive source” confirmed that British, French, and Egyptian special operations units were training Libyan militants along the Egyptian-Libyan border, as well as in Benghazi suburbs.

While analysts have long speculated as to the “when and where” of Western ground troop presence in the Libyan War, this email serves as definitive proof that special forces were on the ground only within a month of the earliest protests which broke out in the middle to end of February 2011 in Benghazi.

By March 27 of what was commonly assumed a simple “popular uprising” external special operatives were already “overseeing the transfer of weapons and supplies to the rebels” including “a seemingly endless supply of AK47 assault rifles and ammunition.”

Yet only a few paragraphs after this admission, caution is voiced about the very militias these Western special forces were training because of concern that, “radical/terrorist groups such as the Libyan Fighting Groups and Al Qa’ida in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) are infiltrating the NLC and its military command.”

The Threat of Libya’s Oil and Gold to French Interests

Though the French-proposed U.N. Security Council Resolution 1973 claimed the no-fly zone implemented over Libya was to protect civilians, an April 2011 email sent to Hillary with the subject line “France’s client and Qaddafi’s gold” tells of less noble ambitions.

The email identifies French President Nicholas Sarkozy as leading the attack on Libya with five specific purposes in mind: to obtain Libyan oil, ensure French influence in the region, increase Sarkozy’s reputation domestically, assert French military power, and to prevent Gaddafi’s influence in what is considered “Francophone Africa.”

Most astounding is the lengthy section delineating the huge threat that Gaddafi’s gold and silver reserves, estimated at “143 tons of gold, and a similar amount in silver,” posed to the French franc (CFA) circulating as a prime African currency. In place of the noble sounding “Responsibility to Protect” (R2P) doctrine fed to the public, there is this “confidential” explanation of what was really driving the war [emphasis mine]:

This gold was accumulated prior to the current rebellion and was intended to be used to establish a pan-African currency based on the Libyan golden Dinar. This plan was designed to provide the Francophone African Countries with an alternative to the French franc (CFA).

(Source Comment: According to knowledgeable individuals this quantity of gold and silver is valued at more than $7 billion. French intelligence officers discovered this plan shortly after the current rebellion began, and this was one of the factors that influenced President Nicolas Sarkozy’s decision to commit France to the attack on Libya.)

Though this internal email aims to summarize the motivating factors driving France’s (and by implication NATO’s) intervention in Libya, it is interesting to note that saving civilian lives is conspicuously absent from the briefing.

Instead, the great fear reported is that Libya might lead North Africa into a high degree of economic independence with a new pan-African currency.

French intelligence “discovered” a Libyan initiative to freely compete with European currency through a local alternative, and this had to be subverted through military aggression.

The Ease of Floating Crude Propaganda

Early in the Libyan conflict Secretary of State Clinton formally accused Gaddafi and his army of using mass rape as a tool of war. Though numerous international organizations, like Amnesty International, quickly debunked these claims, the charges were uncritically echoed by Western politicians and major media.

It seemed no matter how bizarre the conspiracy theory, as long as it painted Gaddafi and his supporters as monsters, and so long as it served the cause of prolonged military action in Libya, it was deemed credible by network news.

Two foremost examples are referenced in the latest batch of emails: the sensational claim that Gaddafi issued Viagra to his troops for mass rape, and the claim that bodies were “staged” by the Libyan government at NATO bombing sites to give the appearance of the Western coalition bombing civilians.

In a late March 2011 email, Blumenthal confesses to Hillary that,

I communicated more than a week ago on this story—Qaddafi placing bodies to create PR stunts about supposed civilian casualties as a result of Allied bombing—though underlining it was a rumor. But now, as you know, Robert Gates gives credence to it. (See story below.)

Sources now say, again rumor (that is, this information comes from the rebel side and is unconfirmed independently by Western intelligence), that Qaddafi has adopted a rape policy and has even distributed Viagra to troops. The incident at the Tripoli press conference involving a woman claiming to be raped is likely to be part of a much larger outrage. Will seek further confirmation.

Not only did Defense Secretary Robert Gates promote his bizarre “staged bodies” theory on CBS News’ “Face The Nation,” but the even stranger Viagra rape fiction made international headlines as U.S. Ambassador to the UN Susan Rice made a formal charge against Libya in front of the UN Security Council.

What this new email confirms is that not only was the State Department aware of the spurious nature of what Blumenthal calls “rumors” originating solely with the rebels, but did nothing to stop false information from rising to top officials who then gave them “credence.”

It appears, furthermore, that the Viagra mass rape hoax likely originated with Sidney Blumenthal himself.

Thousands of Russian troops sent to Turkish border

A stunning new Ministry of Defense (MoD) report circulating in the Kremlin states that President Putin, this morning, issued an order to the 58th Army Headquarters of the North-Caucasian Military District to immediately deploy “selected” regiments and brigades of Federation military electronic warfare, anti-aircraft, multiple rocket launcher, anti-tank, motorized rifle, and artillery forces to the Turkish-Armenia border—which in total comprises nearly 7,000 Russian troops now being put into full combat status.
According to this report, the legal authorization for this massive combat deployment is due to the joint Russian-Armenian missile air defense system agreement ordered to be signed by President Putin on 11 November and which will be finalized this week by Prime Minister Medvedev.
With Armenia now becoming a vital part of the Russian Joint Air Defense, this report continues, Federation military forces will now be able to counter threats from Turkey coming from that nations western border—which will mirror the air defense protections provided by Federation Aerospace and Naval forces on Turkey’s border with Syria that since being implemented this past week have seen both United States and Turkish aircraft completely cease flying missions against Islamic State terrorists in this war zone all together.
Important to note too about this Federation military deployment to Armenia, this report says, are that these forces will be protected, like their counterparts operating in Syria, with S-400 Triumf (NATO designation: SA-21 Growler) medium/long-range mobile surface-to-air missile systems and Krasukha-4 jamming platforms giving them near total air defense superiority over 85 percent of Turkish territory.
The Krasukha-4 broadband multifunctional jamming station is mounted on a BAZ-6910-022 four-axle-chassis and like the Krasukha-2, the Krasukha-4 counters NATO-Turkish AWACS and other air borne radar systems. The Krasukha-4, also, has the range for effectively disrupting low Earth orbit (LEO) satellites and can cause permanent damage to targeted radio-electronic devices with ground based radars also being a viable target—which is, undoubtedly, MoD experts in this report state, the reason US and Turkish aircraft have fled from the skies over Syria.

With the criminal Erdogan regime in Turkey continuing to support Islamic State terrorists in Syria and Iraq, this report further notes, President Putin’s order today to begin the deployment of Federation military forces to Armenia will protect that nations peoples from their barbaric Turkish enemies who just a century ago (1915-1917) massacred an estimated 1.5 million men, women and children in what is known now as the Armenian Genocide.
And to the great shame of the United States against these Armenia peoples too, this report grimly states, President Obama, this past August, and for the 7th year in row, broke his promise to them to acknowledge the genocide committed against them by Turkey.
The Federation, however, this report continues, is not only one of the 25 nations that has acknowledge the Armenian Genocide, this past week a bill was introduced into the Russian parliament on holding to account anyone who denies that the killings of Armenians by Ottoman Turkish forces was “genocide”.
With Turkish President Erdogan having lashed out at Russia, Germany and France for recognizing the Armenian Genocide, this report warns, his actions against the Kurdish peoples in the Levant Region are even more troubling—especially since this past summer when he broke off all peace talks with them.
But to the Federations greatest fears of the criminal Erdogan necessitating the deployment of thousands of Russian troops to Turkey’s border, this report concludes, is his using of Islamic State terrorists to create for himself a new empire—and which he and his Prime Minister this past May (2015) made no secret of when they declared to the entire Islamic world:

The conflicting visions between the Anti-West and Eurangloland (NATO, with Australia and New Zealand) continue unabated. China and Russia, the dynamic duo that stands tallest among the Anti-West, have been very visible recently. Russian and Chinese Presidents Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping attended China’s jaw dropping Victory Against Fascism Parade in Beijing, on September 3rd. Putin was Xi’s honored guest, as was the Russian detachment that participated in the parade.

Both Putin and Xi gave important speeches during the 70th anniversary session of the United Nations. Putin said all he could, without visibly spitting on the West’s name.  Xi’s US state visit was just as withering for Obama and the West.  Both leaders left America proudly waving the Anti-West banner and continue to be heroes for the world’s Moral Majority, that 85% of humanity who is mostly dark skinned and frequently Muslim, Hindu, Christian Orthodox, Buddhist, Animist, or in the Americas and Africa, dirt poor Christians.

The Western perpetrated genocide in the Ukraine and Uncle Sam’s never-ending onslaught to try to overthrow the Communist Party of China are ongoing reminders that Eurangloland’s colonial empire is very much intact and sad to say, thriving. One only needs to observe Western destabilization and/or military activities in the Americas, Africa and Asia, to swallow this bitter pill of truth: empires, with their extermination, genocide, war and economic enslavement, don’t fall overnight. All we fighters of truth and justice can do is keep flinging rocks at this 500 year-old, multi-headed Hydra, until it finally collapses from internal rot and external overreach. I’ll be 62 this year and even if I live into my eighties, I may still be writing in my dying days, about the pestilence of ongoing Western empire–instead of celebrating hopes for a new, more just and holistic cooperation among the world’s peoples, as well as dreams for the steady state use of Mother Earth’s precious natural and human resources. Only Eurangloland’s virulent racism and fascism, wrapped in the iron fist of an idealized, sanitized and mythical capitalism, stands in the way.

In my writings, I have often talked about racism as a facet of Western empire, but it has often been based on gut instinct and verifiable extermination and genocide of the Moral Majority, since Christopher Columbus first set foot in the Americas, in 1492. As Howard Zinn pointed out in his majestic book, A People’s History of the United States, when the natives, who Columbus first encountered, could not produce any gold to be stolen, he ordered that all of them be executed on the spot. This is the rest of modern history writ large, up to the present.

A book I just read really brings the West’s racism into disturbing and chilling focus. “Exterminate All the Brutes”: One Man’s Odyssey into the Heart of Darkness and the Origins of European Genocide, by Sven Lindqvist, really does live up to its title and subtitle. Of course, the great quote, “Exterminate all the brutes”, is a line taken from Joseph Conrad’s blistering, anti-colonial, reality-as-fiction masterpiece, The Heart of Darkness.
Mr. Lindqvist did a huge amount of research and reading of historical documents, and it pays off in blood-drenched spades. Yes, Adolf Hitler was an unreconstructed hater of Jews, but it was his National “Socialist” Party’s (NSP) platform and policy implementation to exterminate ten million Russians – Slavs, they were called – in order to make “elbow room” (later changed to “lebensraum”, or “living space”). The name “Slav” is fraught with racism. The word “slave” comes from Western Europe’s 8th century King Charlemagne using Slavs, to be worked to death in his mines. For the world’s Moral Majority, nothing about the West has changed in 1,200 years.

The justification for the NSP’s lebensraum was that Germans had the same right to stolen real estate, just like the other European colonial masters were doing across the Americas, Africa and Asia. When Hitler got elected Chancellor in 1933, there were only 250,000 Jews in Western Europe, including Germany. The biggest numbers of them were in Eastern Europe and Western Russia. Jews made up 10% of Hitler’s coveted Slavic lebensraum, but 40% of its urban populations. City folk were the ones who went to the concentration camps first, Russian or Jewish, because they were easy to round up in big numbers, being close to railway stations and good roads to transport them.

Hitler and the NSP were infatuated with Andrew Jackson’s 1830 Indian Removal Act and how it legalized the extermination of 15 million Native Americans. It simply codified what George Washington called the “necessary extirpation” of the natives, from “our settled lands”. Hitler & Co. also used America’s Indian reservations as a blueprint for Nazi concentration camps. Round them up and work them till they die. In fact, the etymological origin of the term “concentration camp” is colonial Spanish, not German.

Hitler’s and the NSP’s racist hatred of their dehumanized Slavs is graphically demonstrated by historical fact. Jews were not the first group to go to the gas chambers in Auschwitz. It was Russians. Just as the Americans made sure that white man’s Indian reservations were set up for enslavement and an early death, Russian prisoners of war perished like flies. Over three million Russians died in the camps, two million in the first year alone. Captured Russians were considered no better than the black skinned Herero and Namaqua tribes, which the Germans exterminated in today’s Namibia, in 1905 (the Germans did this in part to show that they were just as good as the British, French, Spanish, Portuguese and Americans, at large scale genocide, thus, just as deserving of lebensraum). Only 3.5% of “white” English and American prisoners of war died, but 57% of “Slav” Russians did.

The Chinese, the “Yellow Peril”, were gleefully addicted to British and American opium, in what has been called the “world’s longest running, largest global criminal enterprise in human history”, starting in the 1840s. Franklin D. Roosevelt’s family got its wealth from helping to addict and enslave around 100 million Chinese, as did many other thousands of “civilized” white families across America and Europe. After all, the Chinese were no better than yellow niggers.

When the US lost its lucrative slave trade from Africa, after the Civil War in 1865, these upstanding businessmen and Christians simply started sailing their US flag ships to Southern China, to capture and buy one million Chinese, to sell across the Americas. This went on until 1874, when the Chinese emperor’s ceaseless diplomatic and public relations campaigns in the West finally shamed them into stopping.

It was these Chinese “coolie” slaves (from the Chinese, kuli, or “bitter strength”) who built America’s railroads out West. Those who didn’t die from starvation and mistreatment were exterminated through ethnic cleansing across the Western United States. As with Andrew Jackson’s Indian Removal Act, this frenzy of bloodlust against the Yellow Peril was codified by the 1882 Chinese Exclusion Act. Like Native Americans and “freed” slaves, it was open season for slaughter, and many thousands of Chinese coolies were hunted and killed like rabid dogs. There is a reason why the saying, “He doesn’t stand a Chinaman’s chance”, became so popular in 19th century America. Because it was true.

Mr. Lindqvist spells out, with scathing research, why Slavs and the Yellow Peril were (and are) considered just as subhuman as Africans, in the eyes of Western Europeans and Americans. European and American colonialists called all the different dark skinned peoples in their colonies, “niggers”, “brutes”, “kaffirs”, “beasts”, “inferior races” and “lower races” – from the Caribbean to Central-South America to Africa and Asia – Russians and Chinese included. They were classified by the West’s best scientists as something between an ape and the superior Western race. Predestined extinction of these weaker, less intelligent subhumans was simply the natural order and this “scientific theory” filled volumes of academic journals in English, French, Spanish and German.

Hitler fondly called the Japanese “honorary Aryans”. When their imperial army slaughtered 300,000 innocent Chinese women, children, aged and others, during the 1937 Nanjing Massacre, it caused just as little outrage among Western Europeans and Americans, as all the countless genocides committed in their names and for their financial enrichment, since 1492. Which Westerners cared then and who cares today? Just look at Syria/Iraq, Palestine, the Ukraine, the Congo’s pygmies, the Amazon’s indigenous tribes and Burma’s Rohingya Muslim minority, to name a scant few. They are just the tip of the West’s ongoing, unwritten policy of genocide and extermination, either directly or by proxy. After all, as they say, niggers are just niggers.

This has troubling implications for current events and the 21st century. What is clear is that this deep seated Western racism has not gone away. It is still alive and well in the hallowed halls of power, capital and empire. Western racism is clearly expressed by Zbigniew Brzezinski, America’s foreign policy czar since the Carter administration. He sums up his genocidal philosophy, with, “Today it is infinitely easier to kill a million people than to control a million people”, and how important it is to, “Keep the barbarians killing each other”. “Barbarian” is only a slightly more socially acceptable synonym for “nigger”, and we can see his psychopathic, imperial handiwork in Afghanistan, where he created Al-Qaeda, Iraq, Syria, Libya, the Ukraine and elsewhere, not to mention the destabilization of China, via its predominately Muslim province of Xinjiang.

Westerners cannot write about their racial superiority and the perceived sub-humanity of non-Westerners, like they freely did until the 1950s. But racism is still manifestly the fundamental principle that drives America’s “exceptionalism” and the West’s “shining beacon on a hill” superiority.  This in turn serves to legitimize ongoing Western genocide, wars, government overthrows and economic and resource exploitation, relying on the “benign, invisible hand” of capitalism across Planet Earth.

British Prime Minister Winston Churchill simply stated longstanding, Western imperial policy and popular, public sentiment, when justified the genocide of Palestinians with the aim of creating Israel:

“I do not agree that the dog in a manger has the final right to the manger even though he may have lain there for a very long time. I do not admit that right. I do not admit for instance, that a great wrong has been done to the Red Indians of America or the black people of Australia. I do not admit that a wrong has been done to these people by the fact that a stronger race, a higher-grade race, a more worldly-wise race to put it that way, has come in and taken their place”.

For Westerners, it was true then, and is still true today. Don’t believe me? Just ask Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin. For the benefit of their citizens, they battle racism every day.

Spokesman: Good evening, our citizens and guests. We have gathered here today to commemorate the victims of Volyn. <72 years ago>, on July 11th, 1943, the genocide there was started. 150 Polish towns and villages were attacked by Ukrainian nationalists, which led to a huge number of Poles, Ukrainians, and people of other nationalities being cruelly exterminated by the Ukrainian Insurgent Army . They were killing women, children, the elderly. This crime cannot be forgotten or forgiven. Unfortunately, in the past year, the people of Donetsk People’s Republic have first-hand experienced ethnic cleansing, the pain of losing their loved ones, suffering of the blockade. This genocide therefore has special meaning for us, as we understand the feelings of the Polish people on this anniversary, and feel great compassion for them. Now we ask people to lay flowers at the Memorial to the victims of fascism. I give the floor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Donetsk People’s Republic, Aleksandr Igorevich Kofman.

Aleksandr Kofman: In 1945, a special operation was successfully carried out by a man born in Donetsk – Alexander Demidenko has eliminated one of the leaders of the Ukrainian insurgent Army, one of the organizers of the Volyn massacre, Dmitry Klitchkovskiy. 70 years ago, we took part in destroying fascism for the first time, and now, 70 years later we have to fight it again. In Volyn, people that died were Polish, Ukrainian, Jewish, Armenian, Russian. Fascism is not divided by ethnicity – it is an ideology of bastards. And now, 70 years later, it needs to be destroyed again. I am glad that Europe is waking up to this fact – maybe not openly yet, but many Europeans come here and join our Army and fight fascism in our ranks. The common people there remember what fascism is – hopefully we can remind the leaders of Europe of this as well. Today we honor the memory of those that died – this is a monument to the victims of fascism; not just for Volyn  massacre but to everybody who died at the hands of fascist invaders back then. It’s hard for me to talk . Thank you for coming here today. Let’s show the world that Donbass remembers what fascism is, and won’t let it take over our homes.

Spokesman: Now we will give the floor to Member of Parliament, the head of the Communist Party of the Donetsk People’s Republic Boris Alekseevich Litvinov.

Boris Alekseevich Litvinov: Dear friends. 72 years ago, a horrible thing happened -civilians were targets of genocide and ethnic cleansing. And the reason for this was that historically, hatred between nationalities was created. And today’s ideologues of fascism also take root from the traditions of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army that committed these atrocities 72 years ago. Their atrocities were already condemned in Nuremberg trials, and today they come back – I think it’s repeating history. Today, these people have been funded by American money and supported by some European leaders – the very same followers of those fascist ideologies have come to our land and are doing the same thing they did before! What happened to Europe? What happened to everybody? If they had been condemned by the entire world  back then – what happened now? But we here today and I trust that our Polish friends here with those will tell the truth to the international community and today all of us can tell the world – you can’t support reborn National-Socialist dictatorship that illegally seized power in Kiev! They’re doing the same thing that they been doing 72 years ago!
I trust that fascism in the world will be defeated. I call on you, I call on the international community, to let our fledgling republics to live freely as they want –  the population has voted for it <at the referendum>. We want to live in friendship and peace with all nationalities in the world. I grieve for the victims of Volyn massacre and the I’m sure fascism will be beaten despite everything. Thank you very much.

Spokesman: We voice our gratitude to you for participating in our evening of remembrance. Please accept our sincerest condolences. Today, everybody feels compassion for the victims of Volyn. Let us commemorate them within a minute of silence.

Over the past year, the people of the Donbass have experienced firsthand all the suffering inflicted by fascists. The shelling of civilian areas and blockade has claimed thousands of lives. Today we’re standing up for our peaceful future – we believe that all the heroes that fought fascism in the past, and are fighting it now, will not be forgotten, and will always be remembered in history and in the hearts of each one of us. We grieve together with the families of those who perished in this struggle.
White color is a symbol of purity, and children are our hope for the future. In remembrance of everybody that died, we the release balloons into the sky – they are a symbol of our hope for a bright and peaceful future.

We are grateful to everybody who has joined us today. We wish peace, love and kindness to you and your families.

Canada’s genocide against 50,000 First Nation children. Truth and Reconciliation Commission report is a whitewash

Canada’s expensive, seven year attempt to whitewash its mass murder of aboriginal children ended in lies and shame yesterday, when the state-funded “Truth and Reconciliation Commission” (TRC) released its final report into the murderous Indian residential school system that obscured more than it revealed – and held nobody liable for the worst crime in Canadian history.

The $68 million TRC report acknowledged that genocide had in fact taken place in Canada, but named no perpetrators, ignored the legal consequences of this crime, and effectively absolved Canada and its churches for the systemic rape, torture and killing of aboriginal children that spanned over a century.

Plagued by corruption and tampering, and openly snubbing international law and due process by muzzling eyewitnesses and destroying crucial evidence, the TRC concluded by reporting that thousands of children “may have” died in the Indian residential school system, despite its own confirmed evidence of tens of thousands of such deaths.

Justifying the evasion of this truth, TRC Chairman Murray Sinclair, who was indicted by an international court in 2013 for obstructing justice and concealing genocidal acts, lied publicly yesterday when he claimed that “the (Canadian) government stopped publishing residential school death records in 1920″. In fact, reports of students’ deaths, and a constant mortality rate of between 40% and 60%, were continually published by the government until at least 1969, as was proven by independent researcher Rev. Kevin Annett in 1998, and subsequently.

In a public statement issued today and to be broadcast on youtube, Kevin Annett remarked,

“The little of the truth of the Canadian Holocaust that the TRC has admitted is simply a rehashing of everything I first made public in June of 1998, at our own independent inquiry. The TRC has simply stage-managed a public absolution of the churches and government that together exterminated more than 50,000 children. No-one will go to jail for these murders: the TRC was set up to ensure that. This is yet another national crime!”

Commenting from Brussels on the TRC report, a spokeswoman for the International Tribunal into Crimes of Church and State (ITCCS), the body that prosecuted Canada and its churches for Genocide in 2012 and 2013, said today,

“Churches and governments that committed and concealed such horrible crimes have no right under the law of nations to conduct self-managed ‘inquiries’ of themselves, as has happened in Canada. So we consider the TRC report a clear obstruction of the law and of justice, and it does not diminish by one iota the criminal liability of Canada and its churches, and their sponsors in London and Rome, for these war crimes. Frankly, these bodies have lost the moral and legal right to exist.””

In Winnipeg, and in response to the TRC report, the Provisional Council of the lawfully-proclaimed Republic of Kanata announced a renewed campaign to “dismantle this criminal conspiracy called Canada, and enforce the standing Citizen’s Arrest Warrants against thirty leaders of church and state in Canada”, including TRC chairman Murray Sinclair.

“They’ve admitted their crime and stand condemned under the law. Now it’s up to We the People to punish those criminals and their system, to cleanse our country of their legacy of child killing” stated Kevin Annett today.

Interview: Modern Day Concentration Camp Investigation

Kevin Annett and Alexandra Meadors review and provide a detailed account of an investigation in 2011 and 2012 in Brantford, Ontario with the purpose of uncovering forensic evidence of children buried at the oldest Indian residential school in Canada. This school was established by The Crown and The State in 1832 and unfortunately was not shut down until 1970. In approximately 140 years, over 50,000 children are still missing.

Simon Wiesenthal Center condemns Rada bills against USSR and recognition of Nazi collaborators as “freedom fighters”

The Simon Wiesenthal Center on April 12 released a statement condemning the pro-Nazi bills passed by the Rada on Apr. 9, which equate nazism and communism and extend social benefits to the Banderistas of the OUN-UPA.

“Ukraine’s parliament has extended official recognition to a nationalist militia that collaborated with the Germans during the Second World War,” reads the statement of the Nazi-hunting group, naming the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists, which “engaged in warfare against both the Soviet Union and the Nazis [and] collaborated with Germany and took part in actions against local Jews.”

“The passage of a ban on Nazism and Communism equates the most genocidal regime in human history with the regime which liberated Auschwitz and helped end the reign of terror of the Third Reich,” said Wiesenthal Center director for Eastern European Affairs Dr. Efraim Zuroff.

Zuroff added that “the decision to honor local Nazi collaborators and grant them special benefits turns Hitler’s henchmen into heroes despite their active and zealous participation in the mass murder of innocent Jews. These attempts to rewrite history, which are prevalent throughout post-Communist Eastern Europe, can never erase the crimes committed by Nazi collaborators in these countries, and only proves that they clearly lack the Western values which they claim to have embraced upon their transition to democracy.”

In a different communique dated April 14, the Simon Wiesenthal Center also denounced the “campaign led by the Baltic countries to distort the history of the Holocaust and obtain official recognition that the crimes of the Communists are equal to those of the Nazis.”
