Trapped. Life on the Donetsk frontline through the eyes of a little girl.
Director: Aleksandr Panov
Author: Vyacheslav Guz

Zaitsevo village, is caught between the opposing sides. As hostilities between the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) continue, the locals sleep to the sound of gunfire and use their cellars and basements as bomb shelters. They say they simply have nowhere else to go, so they continue to live in this no man’s land, where near constant shelling puts their lives in the line every day.

Among Zaitsevo’s residents is 7-year-old Masha, she lives with her family, 4 generations of women, her mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. They all grew up here and consider the village their home, a place where families are so deeply rooted that moving away to become refugees is unthinkable. They have no choice but to do the best they can to try and maintain a measure of normality in life. Windows have to be left open so they aren’t shattered by explosions. The Internet provides their only contact with neighbours for local news and mutual support.

Masha attends her first grade classes every day, even though her school has twice been hit by artillery fire. To find calm when the shelling starts, she plays with her puppy and has learned to fit her daily schedule around the regular bombardment. Her fondest dream is that, one day, the war will end. +

Donbass resistance hero Givi killed in terrorist attack (VIDEO)

From Fort Russ

February 8, 2017 – Fort Russ News –
By J. Arnoldski –
The commander of the Donetsk People’s Republic’s Somali battalion, Mikhail Tolstykh, famous as Givi, has been killed in a terrorist attack in Donetsk, the Ministry of Defense of the DPR has reported.

“Regrettably, we can confirm this fact,” the DPR’s military spokesman, Eduard Basurin, has told journalists.

The terrorist attack took place at around 6:00 A.M. Givi was reportedly killed in his office by a Shmel flamethrower. “The death of this man was beneficial to Ukrainian special forces,” the DPR command commented.
Employees of the Ministry for Emergency Situations are working at the scene.

According to a defense ministry official, “This is a continuation of the terrorist war begun by the Kiev government against the people of Donbass. An investigative team is working at the site of the terrorist attack.”
<iframe width=”600″ height=”400″ src=”https://www.youtube.com/embed/sKP4PsML1QY&#8221; frameborder=”0″ allowfullscreen><!–iframe>
The ministry also added that security measures have been stepped up in the DPR and residents are urged to remain calm. “We know what kind of people these are. We will find them and they will be punished to the full extent of wartime laws,” the DPR’s prosecutor stated, also confirming that the terrorist attack was the work of a Ukrainian sabotage-reconnaissance group.
Colonel Mikhail Tolstykh, a.k.a. Givi, was born in Ilovaysk on July 19th, 1980. Givi chose his nickname while serving in the Ukrainian Army. After the coup d’etat in Ukraine in 2014, Tolstykh became one of the activists of the movement for self-determination for the country’s eastern regions.
When Ukrainian troops began their military operation against the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, Givi was promoted to commander and fought in the battles of Slavyansk, Ilovaysk, as well the Donetsk Airport. Numerous assassination attempts were made on Givi over the course of the war. Givi received the Order of Hero of the DPR, two St. George Crosses, and a “For Defending Slavyansk” medal.
In October 2016, Givi’s close comrade-in-arms and militia commander Arsen Pavlov, a.k.a Motorola, was also killed in Donetsk as a result of a terrorist attack.
Givi’s assassination is the second high-profile attack over the past week in the context of the overall escalation of the situation in Donbass. On February 4th, the commander of the Lugansk People’s Militia, Oleg Anashchenko, was killed in Lugansk, which was also identified as a Ukrainian terrorist attack.

2400+ violations: full Donetsk front sit-rep

From Fort Russ

December 7, 2016 – Fort Russ News –
RusVesna – translated by J. Arnoldski –
Russian Spring is publishing a complete summary of the military situation in the Donetsk People’s Republic for December 6th-7th. The data was compiled following today’s briefing by the deputy commander of the republic’s operative command, Eduard Basurin.

Ceasefire violations
Over the past day, the number of ceasefire violations by Ukrainian militants has doubled, amounting to 2,453 violations in total
The enemy fired at the territory of the republic 114 times with artillery of 152 and 122 mm, 617 times with mortars of 120 and 82 mm, 8 tank shots, as well as 1240 shots from various types of grenade launchers. In addition, infantry fighting vehicles and small arms were also used.
The Ukrainian terrorists Gruzevich, Shaptal, Nikolyuk, Sokolov, and Delyatisky subjected the following residential areas of the republic to shelling: Vasilevka, Verkhnetoretskoe, Yasinovatya, Zhabichevo, Spartak, Aleksandrovka, Yasnoe, Elenovka, Dokuchaevsk, Kominternovo, Leninskoe, Oktyabr, Sakhanka, and Trudovskie in the Petrovsky district of the city of Donetsk.

Infrastructural damage
As a result of Ukrainian militants’ bombardments, three houses and a gas pipeline were damaged in Dokuchaevsk, and one house was damaged in the residential area of Staromikhailovka.
Also damaged were power lines in Elenovka, where more than 100 homes have been left without light. In Krutaya Balka, the Donetsk Filtration Station, which had only been working for two days before, has been left without electricity.
At the current time, measures are being taken to renew the supply of electricity and gas to the affected residential areas.

Troop movements
The DPR’s intelligence has continued to record the strengthening of UAF positions close to the contact line

In Karlovka (19 km from the contact line), the positions of four 152 mm towed Giatsint-B howitzers have been identified. In Galitsinovka (17 km from the contact line), the location of four 122mm self-propelled Gvozdika artillery systems have been noted. In Krasnogorovka (3 km from the contact line), the location of two 122 mm self-propelled Gvozdika artillery systems has been recorded. Finally, in Konstantinovka (12 km from the contact line), four 122 mm self-propelled Gvozdika artillery systems and two 152 mm towed Giatsint-B howitzers have arrived.
All information on violations of the Minsk Agreements has been sent to representatives of the Joint Center for Control and Coordination of the Ceasefire of the OSCE mission.

Foreign instructors
In the area of operation of the UAF’s 30th mechanized brigade, the presence of foreign instructors from Slovakia, who are directing tactical training for servicemen, has been noted. Judging by the increasing losses in UAF ranks, the foreign instructors are amateurs and do not receive full salaries.

Failed ‘offensives’
Over the past day alone, Ukrainian militants tried two times to break through our positions on the southern borders of the republic, namely, in the residential area of Vodyanoe, where they were repelled and driven back onto their territory with two killed and four wounded. On our side, one serviceman was wounded.

Conclusion

Thus, we can see that the Ukrainian military command is “with sheep persistence” continuing to send its people to slaughter despite knowing in advance the futility of such actions.

Zakharchenko: We have shown the international community our willingness to implement the Minsk Agreements

From Fort Russ

Fort Russ – 19th July, 2016
Today, on July 19th, parliamentary hearings on the topic of “Progress in realization of the Complex of measures on the implementation of the Minsk agreements, approved by Resolution 2202 (2015) on the 7384th UN Security Council meeting” took place in Donetsk. Correspondent of the official website of the Donetsk People’s Republic reported about this.
Head of DPR Alexander Zakharchenko took part in the event. In his speech he emphasized the importance of assistance of the international community in stopping the genocide of the people of Donbass, which was unleashed by the Kiev authorities.
“Today we are summing up the results of the signatures collected on the Petition concerning the nonfulfillment of the UN Resolution by Ukraine; more than 300,000 residents of DPR supported this appeal. We have shown the international community our willingness to implement the Minsk agreements and to end this conflict. Donbas residents said “no” to violence. We did not start the war, did not shell peaceful towns with aviation and artillery, we just wanted to live according to conscience and justice. Unfortunately, the Kiev government for almost 2 years of the Minsk process at all the costs was trying to sabotage the implementation of the complex of measures approved by the UN Security Council. By this petition we are one more time saying that here live not terrorists or separatists, but ordinary people who built their own state. We in any case will end the war and for sure will win because we should fight for the future,” the Head of Republic said.
Let us recall, on February 12, 2015, the complex of measures for the implementation of the Minsk agreements was initiated in Minsk, which was signed by the members of the Trilateral Contact Group – former ambassador of the OSCE, Heidi Tagliavini, the second President of Ukraine Leonid Kuchma, Russian Ambassador to Ukraine Mikhail Zurabov, as well as leaders of Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics Alexander Zakharchenko, and Igor Plotnitskiy. And on February 17th, the UN Security Council unanimously passed a resolution to approve the document. However, despite its commitments, Ukraine has continued to systematically bombard peaceful areas of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics.
In this regard, on June 1st, 2016, Head of DPR Alexander Zakharchenko announced the beginning of the collection of signatures for the Petition concerning the nonfulfillment of the UN Security Council Resolution by Ukraine. By this petition the people of Donbass initiated an appeal to the international organizations to stop the genocide of the residents of DPR and LPR by the Ukrainian authorities and to stop military operations in the country. At present, the appeal was supported by more than 326,000 citizens; the action of collecting signatures in Donbass is officially completed.

Here at Fort Russ, we often get letters from readers wanting to know what they can do in the way of giving some charitable contribution towards helping the victims of NATO war ravaged Ukraine.
Unfortunately, while there are surely any number of great organizations who are helping to organize relief, we do not have the resources to investigate or vet them all. Of course all organizations have overhead, lights to keep on, postage stamps to buy, and rents to pay for an office, storage, and so on.
There are also some expenses, staffing, or legal, administrative, which are always unavoidable.   What’s important is the size of the share of the donations that wind up in the actual hands of those in need.
This relates to the cross-section of efficiency and integrity. With that in mind, we’ve found a trustworthy group that is both transparent and efficient, which we are officially vouching for.

Donetsk People’s Republic: UAF might attempt May holiday offensive to encircle Donetsk

UAF = Ukrainian Armed Forces; ie. Kiev government troops

This is, of course, in complete violation of the Minsk Agreements, but did anyone seriously expect Ukraine or the U.S. or Europe to support then? Minsk was supported by France and Germany to allow the West to regroup, refortify, and refund their war, nothing more. The same thing they’ve done in Syria. When their side is losing, start talking “peace.”

“DPR Defense Ministry: Punitive forces may try to “encircle Donetsk from below” over May holidays”
Ukrainian war criminals might try to strike at Donetsk with three tank battalions over the May holidays. This was reported by General Major Denis Sinenkov who heads the operational command of the Armed Forces of the DPR. He stressed that an offensive might begin on the territories which are currently being de-mined.
“We are preparing for various developments of the situation. Everyone is talking about the punishers’ preparation for aggressive operations and the intensification of the ‘ATO.’ [so-called Anti-Terrorist Operation] We believe that the main strike by the UAF will be at one area backed by three tank battalions. That is, a strike at the belly in order to encircle Donetsk from below,” Sinenkov said, also noting that attacks might happen in other districts – “in some places with less force, in some places as a distraction.”
Sinenkov also stated that according to the republic’s intelligence services, the UAF is actively re-deploying and rotating the Nazi battalions on the front line of defense.

He stressed that the Ministry of Defense of the DPR “is aware of the location of tank battalions despite the fact the Ukrainian military command has attempted to hide them. We are ready to break their fist. The quicker the aggressor will go on an offensive, the sooner we will liberate our lands from this brown plague.”
