Yarosh draws 17 “volunteer battalions” to his side

From Fort Russ

Kolomoysky is creating his own GenStaff (Clarification of situation)
By Yurasumy
Translated from Russian by J.Hawk

The next moment of honesty from Yarosh:

“The new HQ will be joined by about 17 various volunteer battalions, subordinated to the MVD and the MOD, and of course the Right Sector Volunteer Corps.

We have already created a unique operational staff. It will be located in Dnepropetrovsk. It will perform intelligence data exchange, mutual assistance, military-technical cooperation, and so on. We may also form certain operational formations at the front, after all we often have the best operational information about what is happening on this or that sector of the front simply because our battalions are there. We can make recommendations to the General Staff in order to carry out operational and tactical missions,” added Yarosh.

As we can see, the creation of a new command entity for part of the UAF and MVD is proceeding at full pace, and it will be based in Dnepropetrovsk. The formation will in practical terms means the formation of a Dnepropetrovsk khanate, and an increase in Kolomoysky’s influence in intra-Ukrainian power struggles, which will violate the current balance of power.

Even if there is an agreement reached in Minsk today, which I don’t believe will happen (if anything is signed, it will not be done seriously or for long, unfortunately), the break-down of the UAF and MVD into two components will be de-facto concluded. Then UAF formations will have to choose a side, either with Poroshenko or not with Poroshenko.

It won’t happen today or tomorrow, but very soon everyone who is fighting against LPR/DPR will have to make that choice, and then the Ukrainian civil war will spread with new force to new territories. Because according to the Washington central, it’s not enough to plunge the Donbass into chaos; all of Ukraine must be affected. And unfortunately the people of Ukraine are following that path.

P.S. US plans do not foresee the war in Ukraine ever ending. If it ends, it will be a defeat for Washington. They will never agree to that. I am certain of it.

J.Hawk’s Comment: It’s not a given that Yarosh is Kolomoysky’s creature. After all, it is Yarosh who controls the Right Sector, and Kolomoysky has no means of replacing him with anyone else. The location of the parallel Right Sector HQ in Dnepropetrovsk does not necessarily imply Kolomoysky’s control over the enterprise. Instead, it may mean Yarosh is being planted there to keep an eye on Kolomoysky whose political reliability is probably suspect. Though it is possible that Yarosh is happy to collect Kolomoysky’s money in exchange for “protection” from Poroshenko, and that the relationship between the two is strictly business, with the extent of Yarosh’s loyalty to Kolomoysky being limited by the latter’s cash reserves. To be sure, Yarosh very recently stated that he made a mistake by supporting Poroshenko during and after the Maidan.

Aside from that, one cannot help but agree with Yurasumy’s analysis. It would appear that the volunteer battalions opted on their own to join the Right Sector’s command structure, even though they are presumably still attached to regular army brigades. No word on any regular army or National Guard formations opting to come under Yarosh’s command—they are presumably remaining loyal to Poroshenko. But since the volunteer battalions are “legal” and therefore have access to all manner of military equipment, the “military-technical cooperation” simply amounts to a back-door way of accomplishing what Yarosh could not do openly, namely ensuring access to large quantities of military equipment. Because now the volunteer battalions will be able to pass their weapons to the Right Sector, then request replacement (by claiming destruction during combat or some such thing) from the MOD. It’s a big win for Yarosh and the Right Sector. It may well be that, by being based in Dnepropetrovsk, they intend to carve out a role for themselves as a “military frontier” of sorts, by keeping the unrest down in the border areas and also providing security at the border itself.

As to the US policy in Ukraine, I would have to disagree with Yurasumy here. The US seems to be clearly deferring to the EU since at least the Munich Conference. Senior EU officials were adamant that even should this round of Minsk talks fail, it will not change their mind concerning arming of Ukraine. The US seems to be respecting those wishes, restraining to providing support equipment (apparently communications equipment, artillery radars, and associated training) rather than actual weaponry.

Ukraine’s new Prosecutor General continuing the pattern of nepotism

From Fort Russ

2/11/2015
“What, again”? Godfather-President Appoints Godfather theProsecutor General.
By ua_katarsis

Translated from Russian by J.Hawk

Everyone remembers how the former President Yanukovych appointed Pshonka, to whose children he was the godfather, as the Prosecutor General. The new President Poroshenko decided not to deviate from the tradition and likewise appointed someone to whose children he is the godfather.

“The Verkhovna Rada voted to appoint Viktor Shokin the new Prosecutor General of Ukraine. Shokin was supported by 318 deputies, and needed 226 to be confirmed. Prior to that the Rada had voted to dismiss Vitaliy Yarema from that post. Shokin’s candidacy was presented by Poroshenko, who said he knows Shokin for over 15 years and knows him as a professional with good reputation.”

Shokin for his part opted not to ignore the ancient Ukrainian tradition of nepotism. “The Deputy Prosecutor for the Odessa region became Tatyana Gornostayeva, the daughter of the newly appointed Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin.”

Shokin’s other relatives are likewise employed by the Prosecutor’s General office. “They include Shokin’s son-in-law and father-in-law, who likewise were appointed to senior leadership posts at that institution. The husband of Shokin’s daughter, Aleksey Gornostayev, became the Deputy Prosecutor General for the Kiev region of Odessa. The father of Aleksey Gornostayev now works as the Deputy Prosecutor General of the Dnepropetrovsk Region. Prior to that he occupied various posts, and he has headed the Prosecutor’s General office in Dnepropetrovsk.

Faces may have changed, but the methods of exploiting the people remain the same.

J.Hawk’s Comment: Aside from the sheer nepotism and the “godfather angle” of this shockin’, excuse me, Shokin appointments (which Shokin, incidentally, denies) one thing they have in common is that they pertain to cities and regions (Odessa, Dnepropetrovsk) where Kolomoysky’s influence is quite strong. Shokin is known to have put together a number of cases against Poroshenko’s rivals in earlier years, including against Kolomoysky himself. The combination of Yarosh’s new Right Sector/Volunteer Battalion HQ being located in Dnepropetrovsk, and of Poroshenko’s loyalist to Dnepropetrovsk indicates either a brewing conflict between Poroshenko and Kolomoysky (this assumes that Yarosh remains in Kolomoysky’s pay), or a conflict between Poroshenko and Yarosh over how Kolomoysky’s empire is carved up.

Italian reporter: “It is impossible not to see a planned program of ethnic cleansing”

Vauro Senesi for Fatto Quotidiano
Translated from Italian by Tom Winter
http://www.lantidiplomatico.it/dettnews.php?idx=82&pg=9944

Pervomaisk

Tr.: I get so fed up with talking heads who know nothing but what our State Department feeds them. Read this. Share it. An Italian journalist reports on his tour of Lugansk. I translated it through tears.

“They have the Swastika on their uniform, how is it possible that Europe supports them?”

The Daily has published reports of Vauro Senesi from the self-proclaimed People’s Republic of Donetsk, a place where the local population is being, on a daily basis, killed by battalions of the extreme right in the service of the puppet state of Kiev. All this in the most absolute silence of the Italian media. A silence to cover up a foreign policy — that of Renzi and Mogherini — unjustifiable and compromised — to follow the United State in this mad rush to the abyss against Russia …

This article of Vauro Senesi in Fatto Quotidiano is an important exception.
———————————————————–
On the edge of the street, areas of dirty snow compete for space with craters blackened from the explosions. “Pervomaisk,” the First of May, is written on a sign, but it, too, is riddled with shrapnel from howitzers at the entrance of this town a few kilometers from Lugansk, the capital of the self-proclaimed People’s Republic of Lugansk, in the russian-speaking region of Donbass. We stopped in a piazza circled by seven or eight story, square, Soviet style, apartment buildings. Their monotonous geometry is shattered, disrupted by outpourings of masonry like lava flows. One of the breaches is so big you see the other side of the building, a wall burned by fire, now the color of an overcast sky. “A mother lived there with her three kids…” Four middle-aged women come up, wrapped up against the cold. “There’s nothing left of her or her children. The explosion blew everything to bits,” one of them, Irina, says, pointing to the gaping hole. She relates this without her expression revealing any emotion. Grief, pain, fear — maybe all her emotions have been burned, reduced into rubble like the city she continues to live in.

Pervomaisk

Before the war, there were 25,000 inhabitants; now there are less than 8,000. Most have fled into Russia. There is no electricity, no running water. The power plants, the water treatment plants, all destroyed by the bombardment. “But why don’t you go, why don’t you flee?” Irina shakes her head, resigned, obstinate. “This is our land.” “But how can you survive here?” “The Cossacks bring us food when they have any. When they don’t have enough, they scant their own, for us. All this area is defended by the Cossack National Guard of the Don. “Only they think of us. Europe arms the Ukrainian Army that is bombing us. Why? We, too, were Ukrainians.”

The rattle and rumble of an engine interrupts Irina’s outburst. An old and battered pickup truck comes into the courtyard making its way slalomwise around burned-out cars, piles of trash, and piles of rubble. As if drawn by a lure, other groups of women come out from the half-ruined buildings holding baskets of bottles and canteens. The pickup stops. On the door, hand painted, is a red star and a peace sign. The driver is an aged man. Gaunt, with the face framed by a long white beard, on his hat, there is a medal of the Red Army from the Second World War. He greets the women and helps them fill bottles and canteens with drinkable water from the plastic cistern mounted on the bed of the pickup. The first line of the front is just on the other side of these buildings. A woman pushing a baby stroller with a baby in it crosses the cratered street about 50 meters from a trench protected by tree trunks, sandbags, and a position reinforced with wooden beams. There is a machine gun sticking out of it. It is the most advanced outpost of Pervomaisk, and it is manned by an armed Cossack.

Sheltered by a bombed house, there is a gazebo of plastic, below it, a bit of wood burns in a rusty barrel. It’s Roman’s turn to warm himself up. He extends his hands, numb from the cold, to the chance brazier, enjoying a bit of warmth and silence. “It’s been quiet for three days,” he says, and the hint of a smile shows through his thin blond beard that covers his cheeks. “After 32 days of being under constant artillery fire.” Roman is 28, but looks younger, despite the dark circles of weariness about the eyes, and the camouflage he wears, the Kalashnikov slung over the shoulder. He doesn’t know how long the quiet will last, he doesn’t know how much longer the war will last. “We want peace, but on our bit of land. Becoming part of Ukraine again is no longer a possibility. The Army of Ukraine has fired on their own people. There’s nothing for us but to resist to the end.” It is the Resistance Roman is talking about. “Against the Nazis over there…” He points with his arm to the line of the front. “Over there, it’s the Azov Battalion of the Ukrainian National Guard. They’ve got swastikas on their uniform. How is it possible that Europe supports them?”

Azov, Aidar, Donbass-Dnepr, Dnepr One, Dnepr Two — battalions composed of extreme right volunteers integrated into the regulars of Ukraine, and financed, like the neo-nazi group Pravij Sektor [Right Sector] by the oligarch Igor Kolomoisky, the extremely rich and powerful governor of the Dnepropetrovsk region, who, in addition to his Ukrainian passport, has Cypriot and Israeli passports. Roman smiles again saluting us with a raised fist. “No Pasaran!” – the salute of the Republicans of Spain, which, among the Cossacks, has gained a new life, and a new context and has become common.

“No Pasaran,” – Roman repeats, as if to reassure us, too. ЛЮДЫ [lyudi] written in big letters in white paint, a word, which in Russian means “People,” is written repeatedly on homes and schools, a sign that civilians, non-combatants, are there — in an attempt at protection from fire and bombardment. We see it again on the wall of a burned out house as we leave Pervomaisk to continue our voyage through the destruction towards Novosvietlavka, on the way that leads to the old airport. ЛЮДЫ, people. And it is against people, civilians, that this war seems to get carried on non-stop. We left Lugansk, went through Stakanov, Pervomaisk, and everywhere we saw schools, hospitals, factories, power plants, water pumping stations, all destroyed. Not to see a planned program of ethnic cleansing is impossible. The intent to force the People that live and survive in the region to abandon it and take refuge in Russia, leaving behind them scorched earth.

SCORCHED EARTH is what’s left of Novosvietlavka. Burned, like all the huts that composed it. The aqueduct, the House of Culture, the church, the school. On the ruins of the school, near the carcass of a yellow school bus riddled with bullets, stood the remains of a large sign, with pictures of happy boys and girls under the legend “These years of school are the most beautiful years.” Words that sound dramatically ironic in this setting. Also the hospital has been reduced to a pile of rubble. Vladimir Nikolai Svarievski, deputy mayor, tries to compose himself, apparently ashamed, though it wasn’t he that was responsible for the devastation. But he gives up the attempt and his eyes fill with tears, his mouth fills with the words of an account of the horror that seems to have no thought of coming to an end. “The militia of the Aidar battalion came through here. Lootings, shootings, mass graves, corpses desecrated.”

Few inhabitants are left in Novosvetlovka. There is an old man. “I took refuge in a basement. Four days I hid in the dark without food and water.” There, a small group of kids by a burned-out tank wait for a bus that will take them to a school ten kilometers away. “Our school was the biggest, most beautiful,” says one of them. And there are packs of dogs. “Watch out. They are dangerous.” The old man puts us on our guard. Hunger. The shock of the explosions has made them feral; they’ve become like beasts. They attack people. Beasts.

Leader of the party “Svoboda” Oleg Tyahnybok calls on the authorities to return the title Hero of Ukraine to the leader of Ukrainian nationalists Stepan Bandera.

[Svoboda Party was previously named the Social-National Party of Ukraine (Соціал-національна партія України)]

He told this 1 January to Independence Square in Kiev in the Chamber, dedicated to 106th anniversary of the birth of Bandera. “Today’s authorities are obliged to return the decree conferring the title of Hero of Ukraine to Stepan Bandera, which was abolished by Yanukovych,” – said Tyahnybok. According to him, this should be done, because during the war Bandera was a hero for the whole Ukrainian nation.

January 1 in Kiev there was a torchlight procession in honor of the anniversary of the birth of Bandera, after which at the Independence Square held council, which completed the prayer “Our Father” and performance of the anthem Ukraine. During the council spoke leaders of “Svoboda” and leadership “Right Sector” and the soldiers of the battalion OUN, which is fighting in eastern Ukraine in Donetsk region Sands.

Participants in their speeches remembered all those who died for Ukraine, who fell in the struggle for freedom and independence, for the sovereignty of our country.

Participants of the action believe that the Revolution of Dignity is not over and that Ukraine must continue the fight against the fifth column and supporters of Moscow. Furthermore the protesters supported the establishment of Ukraine in a local church. Also in Lviv during the day about 1000 supporters of “Svoboda” held a torchlight procession about the 106 anniversary of the birth of the OUN leader.

Confessions of a Right Sector spokesperson and new Ukrainian parliament member, Borislav Bereza

Borislav Bereza Facebook account, June 1, 2014

Translation on Fort Russ
http://fortruss.blogspot.com/2014/11/confessions-of-right-sector.html

The right hand of Dmitry Yarosh, Right Sector spokesperson and a new Ukrainian PM, Borislav Bereza, shared the plans of Ukrainian military and the Right Sector regarding the population of Donetsk and Lugansk regions on his Facebook account on June 1, 2014:

“What I am going to say is brutal, but honest. The situation in the East has reached a critical point. Having a dialog is not feasible. Mercenaries from Russia arrive every day. Their numbers are getting to a critical point. Considering the current number of Russian mercenaries, the military is guaranteeing successful execution of the operation in 30 days.

The military has 3 demands:

Guarantees for their future safety and protection, unlike what happened to Berkut police. For the government not to blame them for everything in order to clear itself.

Second – to provide all necessities, weapons, ammunition, transport, food. It is all available, but a decision is needed for distribution.

Third – an authorization to begin a final stage. This will depend on the president.

The thing is there is only one solution to the problem – a full-scale military operation.

Phase one – a locality is surrounded, through loud-speakers population is notified to leave the territory in 1-3 days, after which all remaining will be declared accessory to the enemy. Terrorists who want to surrender and lay down arms, will have that opportunity. People will be escorted through sorting camps. This can be done fast and effectively by installing a large number of criminal laboratories, and by separating women and children. Plus appearance of marks consistent with use of weapons and belts will help identify separatists.

Phase 2 – the city will be subject to massive attack with heavy weaponry.

Phase 3 – repeat phase 1. Phase 4 – repeat phase 2. Then – the final phase of the operation. Targeted strikes of the city, followed by demo-machinery.

You will say its harsh? It’s absolutely necessary.

Otherwise in a couple months it will metastasize in other regions. Therefore an urgent surgical operation is needed. Those who want to be human shields for the occupants are not brainwashed citizens of Ukraine, but are traitors helping a foreign invader. These people have always been eliminated. Do you want me to remind you about examples from WWII, I think not.

No matter how sad and tragic it is to admit, but there are no other solutions to the problem in Eastern Ukraine. And this is not my decision, its an opinion of the professionals. And I have to agree with them.

The only person, who can decide whether to give this order, is the commander-in-chief, the new president Petr Poroshenko. And he needs to be motivated by not humanism, but by the necessity to protect territorial integrity of Ukraine, and by protecting the lives of Ukrainian citizens among the military and civilians.

The situation has reached a level, where there is only one solution. Unfortunately, there are no options. If Poroshenko wants to go down in history as a person who brought peace to the country and preserved its territorial integrity, then he will give that order. Therefore, the citizens of Donbass and Lugansk still have some time to decide which side they will take, and whether to stay or to leave. I have friends and acquaintances on the territory of Donbass, and I would tell them to prepare to leave.

They can thank not only their Eastern neighbor, but also those animals, who have traded their patriotism, honor and conscience for personal ambition and gain, while becoming puppets of the Kremlin b%ches. Its their choice. And among them there are many a%$holes with parliamentary papers. But Ukrainians and Ukraine cannot be hostages of the terrorists forever. The military is waiting for their guarantees and the order to begin the operation.

And let God help us survive this horror.”

6,000 Ukrainian Jewish refugees to be granted Israeli citizenship, as Israel and West support neo-Nazi regime

From NSNBC International
By Dr. Christof Lehmann, November 19, 2014
http://nsnbc.me/2014/11/19/6000-ukrainian-jews-may-be-granted-israeli-citizenship-while-west-supports-nazi-parties/

The Israeli government is holding closed-door meetings about receiving some 6,000 Jewish citizens who have been displaced due to the Ukrainian civil war, reports the Israeli Maariv newspaper. Meanwhile, western support for overtly National Socialist and Ultra Nationalist parties and militants in Ukraine continues.

The cabinet of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu secretly plans on the construction of “refugee camps” to receive the “6,000 displaced” Ukrainian Jews, reports Maariv. The construction of refugee camps to receive the 6,000 Ukrainians is reportedly being planned under the supervision of Israel’s Minister of Economy, Naftali Bennett. Maariv didn’t specify where these 6,000 Ukrainians should be settled.

The news comes as the death toll of a recent attack on a Jewish Synagogue in Jerusalem has risen to five and a row between the Netayahu government and the Palestinian government under President Mahmoud Abbas. While Netanyahu blames Fatah and Hamas for terrorism and for the attack, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas responded, blaming Israel’s occupation of Palestine for causing conflict and driving people into terrorism.

The rapid spread of ultra nationalism, overtly Nazi Parties and militia, and their rapid rise to power during the Western-backed “Euro-Maidan” protests in Kiev has resulted in pogroms and threats against Jews and Jewish communities throughout Ukraine with the exception of the areas in the rebelling Donbass region which are firmly under the control of the rebelling regional governments, as well as with the exception of Crimea, which acceded into the Russian Federation after a referendum in  Crimea on March 16, 2014.

Ukranian M.P. for Svoboda, Oleg Tyahnbok, here after his reelection as Svoboda “Leader”.

Ukraine risks becoming a failed state after the pogroms, wrote contributing editor of Route magazine and nsnbc contributor Igor Alexeev as early as December 2013. Alexeev forecast the detrimental effects of the developments on Ukraine’s economy which has ground to a halt. Alexeev also warned about the rise of Ukraine’s Svoboda party to power. In his December 2013 article Alexeev warned:

Originally known as the Social-National Party, Svoboda is rooted in Nazi collaboration. Svoboda also honors “Ukrainian veterans” who fought with the Nazis against the Soviet Union during the Second World War in the Waffen SS-Galicia and the party is fighting against a threat which they describe as “Jew Communism.” The issue has been described in an article by Michael Goldfarb in the Global Post, titled “Ukraine’s nationalist party embraces Nazi ideology“.

The also overtly National Socialist paramilitary UNA-UNSO, associated to Ukraine’s Pravy (Right) Sector, has since morphed into the so-called “special military units” or ADS corps which are operating semi autonomously, and are associated to command structured within Pravy Sector, the Interior Ministry, the Defense Ministry as well as foreign and NATO intelligence. The UNA-UNSO has been linked to NATO’s so-called stay-behind a.k.a. “Gladio” network.

Senator John McCain (r) here with Svoboda leader Oleg Tyahnbok (m) and current Ukrainian PM Arseniy Yatzenyuk (l).

The U.S. and other western governments have consistently passed their “partners” in Ukraine off as “moderates and rejected allegations about cooperation with Ukrainian parties and organizations with Nazi ideology.

In May 2014, the U.S. Assistant Secretary of State, Victoria Nuland, however, admitted during a two-hour hearing before the House of Representatives, that the U.S. Administration cooperates with Ukrainian Nazis.

The cooperation with Ukrainian Nazis was, however, not limited to official members of the Obama administration. Among those directly involved in cooperating with e.g. Svoboda “leader” Tyahnbok was U.S. Senator John McCain, who is also known for making “deals” with ISIS “Caliph Ibrahim“, a.k.a. al-Badri or al-Baghdadi.

Israeli military units were reportedly also involved in the coup d’état in Ukraine that lead to the rise of Nazi ideologists and the threat against Jewish citizens and communities in Ukraine.

In an article from march 14, 2014, the director of the Canada-based Centre for Research on Globalisation, Dr. Michel Chossudovsky, noted that the Jewish News Agency JTA reported about the presence of units associated to the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) in Ukraine. JTA quotes “Delta”, a member of the IDF’s Givati Infantry Brigade as confirming the presence of Israeli forces during the coup d’état.

The Givati Infantry Brigade was, among others, involved in Israel’s 2009 “Operation Cast Lead” against Palestine’s Gaza Strip as well as in massacres in Tel El-Hawa neighborhood of Gaza, reports Chossudovsky.

While the threat against members of Ukraine’s Jewish community is real, the situation poses the question whether the Netanyahu administration participated in creating the threat with the purpose to create potential new Israeli immigrants and citizens. Over the last two years, Israel experienced a marked increase of Israeli citizens who are leaving Israel for Germany, the USA, and other western countries. 6,000 new Ukrainian Jews could help the Netanyahu administration with maintaining Israel’s policy of aggressive settlement expansion in the illegally occupied Palestinian territories.

Global Maidan conference held in New York to recruit and co-opt young people

This conference was held November 15, 2014

People who presented included

  • Katie Halper – outreach director for a Naomi Klein film and co-producer for a Tim Robbins film
  • Jonathan Schienberg – associate producer for “60 Minutes”
  • Jenny Halper – director of production and development for Maven Pictures, Trudie Styler and Celine Rattray’s production company. Trudie Styler is married to Sting.
  • Alex Leo – founding editor of HuffPostComedy, editor-at-large for Newsweek; previously head of product for Reuters, senior editor of Huffington Post, and associate producer at ABC
  • Meredith Scardino – writer for Colbert Report
  • Sara Taksler – senior producer for the Daily Show with Jon Stewart

This is a heady and frightening array of talent to seduce young people to join U.S. funded, neo-Nazi, ultra-right movements. It is also very educational to understand the influential and connected positions these people occupy in the entertainment and news media world in the United States.

From the article below:

The Global Maidan conference is an attempt to make imperialism, fascism, and terrorism attractive to young people. The conference will feature classes on filmmaking, comedy writing, and other skills young “hipsters” aspire to acquire. It is an attempt to make young people who want to change the world and halt oppression into tools – to direct their anger not at those responsible for the rising low-wage police state in the US, but at Wall Street’s enemies abroad.

The conference promo states:

Global Maidan was organized to honor the one-year anniversary of EuroMaidan, the pro-democracy revolution in Ukraine that began in November 2013

Global Maidan is a conference for civic activists to learn from experts in journalism, comedy, filmmaking, fundraising, and social media, and for those experts to share their insights and help civic activists change the world.

…Ukraine needs this attention right now as it enters its second year of the crisis and faces a frozen conflict with Russia.

Stewart, Colbert, and The Upcoming Nazi Terrorist Conference in New York City
By Caleb Maupin, November 12,2014

Volydymyr Parasiuk is no peace-loving freedom fighter. He is a 26-year-old armed fascist thug, who has commanded a battalion of Ukrainian “volunteers” to slaughter their own country folk. Parasiuk admits he was a member of the Congress of Ukrainian Nationalists, a group of Neo-Nazis who trained him in their paramilitary camp.  The Congress of Ukrainian Nationalists is known for its Nazism and its stated desire to carry out genocide. Its leader proclaimed in 2007: “Our time has come, and the Dnieper will soon be red with the blood of kikes (slur for Jews) and moskals (slur for Russians).”

Parasiuk openly brags about his close coordination with the Right Sector, another neo-Nazi organization, as well as his use of outright violence and terrorism to further his extreme aims.

On the floor of the Ukrainian parliament, he has given speeches denouncing any plan for peace with the people of East Ukraine. He wants all negotiations to be suspended. He wants martial law.  He dismissed all who do not accept the government imposed on them by the EU and US as “homeless, alcoholics, drug addicts” as well as “grannies who see Stalin waving at them from the world beyond.”

A Nazi Conference in New York City

Parasiuk’s career as a promoter and perpetrator of fascism and violence is not limited to Ukraine. It has been announced that on Nov. 15th, he is coming to New York City for a “Global Maidan” Conference.

At the conference to take place on the lower east side of Manhattan, US supporters of Ukrainian fascism will join with terrorists seeking to overthrow the governments of Venezuela, Iran, Syria, and other countries. Together, with funding from Pentagon-linked NGOs, they will attempt to coordinate their activities and recruit young New Yorkers to their project.

The Global Maidan conference, where Parasiuk will be given a platform and treated as a hero, will also feature “Daily Show” segment producer Sara Taksler, as well as “Colbert Report” writer Meredith Scardino.

A few years back, Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert held a “Rally To Restore Sanity” in Washington, DC. At the rally they bemoaned, with sarcasm and humor, the “shrillness” of political discourse. Is fascist monster Parasiuk a representative of the kind of “moderation” they and their production teams support?

Wall Street Fights Russia With Fascism

Ukrainian President Victor Yanukovich, who was democratically elected, was not willing to bring his country under the complete dominion of NATO and the European Union. He was not willing to cripple the country with IMF debt. He was more interested in developing a financial relationship with Russia than with the United States.

To overthrow the elected government in Ukraine, the US government poured billions of dollars into the creation of a violent, fascist movement.  After riots that would make even the most violent explosions in the US during the 1960s look like a playground scuffle in comparison, the elected government was removed. A rightwing-led movement — filled with self-proclaimed “ultra-nationalists” who consider Hitler to be a “liberator” and “hero” — seized control of the government.

The people of East Ukraine are fighting in the hopes of keeping their language and culture legal, and not being subjected to genocide (“the Dnieper will soon be red with the blood of kikes (slur for Jews) and moskals (slur for Russians)”).

In an attempt to keep Russia out of the rising global markets, the US has aligned itself with fascists. Ukraine was a peaceful country, but is now the site of massive civil war with political repression and ethnic violence now a common occurrence.

Will This Be Tolerated?

Six months ago, 43 people were burned alive by Parasiuk’s ilk in the Odessa House of Trade Unions, some of them finished off with baseball bats after jumping from the burning building. For the sake of their memory and their families, city officials, community members and people of basic human decency should make all efforts to prevent this terrorist conference from taking place.

US Federal Law forbids “conspiracy to commit terrorism,” something that accurately describes exactly what this conference would entail. If the NYPD were interested in “serving and protecting” the innocent, they would shut down this gathering of Ukrainian mass murderers instead of investigating people peacefully praying at mosques.

Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert, who purport to be “liberals” and advocates of “sanity” in political discourse, should end their association with this kind of ugly extremist terrorism. Scardino and Taksler should apologize for promoting Nazism, or be removed in order to maintain the integrity of the TV program.

Hundreds of New Yorkers died fighting Nazis in the Second World War. Why should this city host these modern-day fascist monsters decades later — just because they are helping Wall Street make a buck and compete with Russia?

Eyewitness account from Eastern Ukraine: National Guard and Right Sector battalions killing civilians

Posted on Slavyangrad.org, October 28, 2014

Preamble: What follows is a first-hand account of events that took place in the area of the MH17 crash site in August of this year, written by someone who was part of the team of OSCE inspectors and observers. The Slavyangrad team was approached by this individual with a view to publishing their account as they believed that more mainstream news sources would either distort or censor the account. Accordingly, we have made only minor alterations to improve the English and to iron out typographical and/or grammatical errors (the author’s first language is not English). For obvious reasons (evident from the final paragraph of this account) we have substituted a pseudonym for the author’s real name.

On August 8, we received information that a farmer located in the most southern area of the crash site had reported that he had found materials which he believed had originated from the Malaysian Airlines flight MH17. According to the report, the farmer also believed that there might be human remains on his fields and he was asking for instructions on what to do. On Sunday, August 10, we attempted to reach the farmer. For this we had to cross from Ukrainian-held territory into rebel-held territory, crossing the no-man’s-land between the front lines. In reality, this basically means the space between the final road-blocks on the main roads.

Azov Battalion emblem

Azov Battalion emblem

At the last Ukrainian-manned road-block (manned by a volunteer unit wearing the insignia of the Azov Battalion), well within the twenty kilometre perimeter around the crash site, we were prohibited from continuing because there were ongoing military operations in the area ahead of us. In response to our questions about the operations, we were told “none of your business,” and “be glad we let you leave.” We decided to take a detour in order to try our luck at another road-block. At this road-block, in the hands of the regular army, we were simply waved through after having our papers checked. We asked if there were any military operations ongoing in the area ahead of us; the answer was “not that we know of—we have orders to hold our position and only to defend ourselves.”

Knowing that road-blocks are a regular target for both sides, we decided to move on quickly and see how far we would get. Our designated fixer told us that he expected another road-block ahead of us and a few kilometres along the road his suspicion was confirmed: an improvised road-block constructed from burned out cars and felled trees, manned by irregular troops. They seemed very excited, urging us “go back, go back, we are fighting!” One soldier with Azov badges and the black-red Right-Sector identification, seemingly the commander of this group, came over to our car and told us: “You have already been told that there is a military operation going on and that you are not allowed to proceed.” This made it clear to us that while irregular or volunteer units were communicating with each other, they were not communicating with the regular army unit holding the road-block we had previously passed through.

We took this man aside and reminded him of his government’s commitment to ensuring access to the crash site and to maintaining a twenty kilometre cease-fire zone around it. The reply was, to us, shocking: “I don’t take orders from Kiev,” and after this his tone became threatening. We decided to drive back to the army held road-block and ask around there. The commander at the army road-block said he did not know where the “amateurs” (as he referred to the irregulars) had their road-blocks or what they were doing. His exact statement was “I don’t know who gives them orders, we have no communication with them. My orders are to hold this position and to act only to defend ourselves, so that is what we do.” We asked him again if he knew about any ongoing military operation in the area we were attempting to visit, and his reply was very straightforward: “Did your translator misunderstand something? We have orders to hold this position.” His annoyance seemed real—despite lacking any real insight into his actual orders, I believed he was telling the truth.

We decided to leave the area that was visible from the road-block and instead to try to find access by taking back-roads since our fixer was sure he would be able to find a way to bypass the road-blocks and get to the farmer who was awaiting us. Using back-roads and dirt tracks through fields, we were able to bypass the road-blocks of both sides, including those controlled by Ukrainian irregular forces.

Close to the village we met the farmer. While we were introducing ourselves we could hear artillery fire and explosions in the distance, which was a regular occurrence in this area despite the supposed commitment to a cease-fire around the crash site. The farmer, Gennady, explained to us what he had found and that he wanted to make sure he was not disturbing anything, but that he also needed to start preparing for harvesting his crop. When we approached the path into his fields I noticed two candles, some flowers and a cross. Gennady knelt down to take some dirt away and sat there for a moment. Our translator whispered, “he is praying.” When he got up, he said something which apparently touched our translator so much that she at first replied to Gennady in English, “tell him,” before continuing in Russian.

What Gennady had said was: “I thanked God you are here because they will not attack us now that you are.” What followed was a description, shocking to me, of regular artillery barrages against the villages and settlements in this area. Gennady told us that the villagers say “they are playing tennis, because they play three sets every match to try and kill us.” We had heard about people using the term ‘tennis’ for those actions before, but so far we had thought this meant watching the shells flying over like a tennis ball during a game. Evidently it was not; we were shocked by the cold description. Gennady pointed out some of the sites which he knew to have been hit—all farms, settlements and the two villages in the immediate vicinity. No military emplacements, no military objectives. Insider estimates 25,000-30,000 deaths so far; Ukraine’s Rada elections bring society to brink of all out war and economic collapse

Global Research, November 03, 2014

By Dylan Murphy and Jo Murphy

The parliamentary elections in Ukraine has been lavished with praise by Western politicians and the mainstream media as confirmation of the country’s turn towards democracy and a rejection of Putin’s evil Russian empire. What the media drones and corporate politicians won’t tell you is that these elections represent a disaster for the ordinary people of Ukraine.

Ukraine is bankrupt and its economy is rapidly collapsing. It has been promised billions in aid from the IMF and EU in return for the most vicious austerity measures that will make Greece look like a picnic. Industry and agriculture are suffering steep declines in production while austerity measures will lead to huge cuts in wages and welfare benefits. At the same time the rapid immiserisation of the masses is worsening due to massive price increases in basic foodstuffs and essential utilities such as electricity, gas and water.

All of the capitalist politicians elected to the new Rada have no solution to these devastating economic problems. Their economic programme can be summed up in the slogan; ”Austerity, austerity and yet more austerity.” Western capitalism’s macro-economic reform progamme offers an extremely bleak future to the ordinary people of Ukraine.

The election will return a government that is committed to continuing the war against its own people in the rebel held regions of Donetsk and Lugansk. It confirms the splitting up of the country into several parts. Crimea will stay with Russia while the People’s Republics of Donetsk and Lugansk which make up Novorossia will continue to fight for their independence, which leaves the rest of Ukraine minus about 15% of its former population.

It would be more accurate to call this election the ”battle of the billionaires”. All of the political parties that got representation in the new Rada are puppets of the different billionaire oligarchs. It is these people who really call the shots in collaboration with their masters in Washington.

There is nothing remotely progressive about the motley collection of ultra-nationalists who will make up the new Rada. Most of the new MP’s are rabidly right wing and ultra hostile to Russia, the breakaway regions of Donetsk and Lugansk, the trade unions, the Communist Party, the list goes on. It includes an assortment of Holocaust deniers and sympathisers for the Ukrainian Nazis who fought with the SS during World War Two. It would appear that even people wanted by Interpol for inciting terrorism and responsible for the Odessa massacre on 2 May, such as Right Sector leader Dmitry Yarosh, can be elected to the new Rada.

Let’s take a few examples to show how deeply hollow are the claims that the new Rada will be committed to democracy and freedom. The People’s Front party of Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenuk topped the poll with 22.2% of the vote. The People’s Front is closely allied with various volunteer battalions of neo-Nazis that have fought in the Donbass region committing war crimes against Russian speakers. Take for example the Aidar battalion which Amnesty International has accused of war crimes during the Ukrainian government’s summer offensive against Novorossia.

Along with this bunch of murderers you have the ultra violent crazies found in the Radical Party led by Oleh Lyashko. The Radical Party received around 8% of the vote and 22 seats in the Rada. The coup in February that brought the CIA sponsored regime to power has meant psychopaths such Lyashko can go around illegally arresting people and taping himself torturing them with impunity. Amnesty International has called on Ukraine’s government to arrest Lyashko and his armed associates.

Then we have newly elected MP Yury Bereza commander of the volunteer battalion Dnepr-1. Live on Ukrainian television he recently said that the volunteer battalions are ready to invade Russia and carry out acts of sabotage including the carrying out of bombings. This great democrat was criticised by a recent UN report that accused volunteer battalions including Dnepr-1 of violating international humanitarian law during the summer.

In the absence of any Left alternative that can lead a fightback against the austerity measures demanded by Western capitalism the people of Ukraine face an almost certain revival of the civil war. The ultra nationalists who dominate the new Rada show no mood for compromise with the breakaway regions of Donetsk and Lugansk. A revival of the war will be used to try and distract the shivering masses away from their daily struggle to pay the bills and make ends meet.

I recently spoke with Russian blogger Rozhin Boris, otherwise known as Colonel Cassad, whose indepth reports from the front lines of Novorossia shed a lot of light on military/political developments in this war torn region.

The United Nations has recently estimated that over 3,660 people have been killed in the fighting in Eastern Ukraine. Could you describe the extent of the humanitarian crisis facing ordinary people in Novorossia?

This assessment is very far from the reality. The armed forces of the Kiev junta have lost 12 to 18 thousand dead. They are responsible for the deaths of thousands of civilians. The militias of Novorossia have lost 5-6,000 dead. The total number of deaths is approximately 25-30 thousand with of tens of thousands of wounded militia members, civilians and junta soldiers. Officially more than 250,000 civilians have fled the Donbass, unofficially its over a million. The Donbass is facing a humanitarian catastrophe.

Should the people of Donetsk and Lugansk regions be allowed to decide their own fate? The right of nations to self-determination has a long history in the region. When the Bolsheviks came to power in 1917 Lenin proclaimed this right for national groups living within the Russian Empire, and Finland gained its independence. Why do you think the US and it’s European allies steadfastly refuse to recognise the national aspirations of the people of Lugansk and Donetsk?

The people of Donetsk and Lugansk have already decided in a referendum on 11 May (which was held in defiance of the will of the Junta, which had been against the referendum and against the will of Moscow, which had tried to stop it). The U.S. refused to recognize the new reality, because they are engaged in a hybrid war against Russia in the Ukraine, and the establishment of these republics they saw as the success of Russia, which is contrary to their interests. The fact that, in so doing, they are following double standards, recognizing the legitimacy the secession of Kosovo from Serbia and not recognizing the legitimacy of Donetsk and Lugansk from Ukraine. This is their normal practice for the protection of their national interests.

The return of Crimea to the Russian federation is being used as the pretext for economic sanctions against Russia. Do you think these sanctions will have any significant impact on the policies/actions of Russia with regard to Novorossia?

These sanctions already had some impact, forcing Russia to recognize the legitimacy of the Kiev junta and to abandon the idea of open-ended input to support the People’s Republics of Donetsk and Lugansk. There is an effective limit to this pressure, as Russia in spite of the threats from Obama to capitulate does not want to and will not do so. Further sanctions will only escalate the confrontation. Their economic impact will increase, but the political component will fail.

The Poroshenko regime launched an ATO (Anti-Terrorist Operation) in June designed to eliminate the “terrorists” in Lugansk and Donetsk. Throughout the summer it made numerous claims that it was defeating the self-defence militias of Novorossia and that by 24 August 2014 the ‘separatist forces’ would have been crushed. However, it is obvious this has not happened. Can you tell us why Poroshenko has failed in his military objectives?

The Ukrainian army had the overwhelming superiority in numbers of men and technology. Despite some tactical successes the Ukrainian army has suffered a series of disastrous military defeats, which lost thousands of soldiers, dozens of fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters, and hundreds of pieces of armour. The main causes of defeat were: low morale of the Ukrainian army and punitive battalions of the National Guard, poor condition of its logistics and intelligence, resilience of the infantry militia of Novorossia, military-technical assistance on the part of Russia, and the incompetent command of the Ukrainian minister of defence.

During the summer the Western media was full of warmongering articles screaming for more and more sanctions on Russia which had allegedly invaded Eastern Ukraine. Since the Minsk ceasefire agreement the Western media has gone fairly quiet on the issue of the war against the people of Novorossia. Has the ceasefire agreement led to a cessation of hostilities against the people of Novorossia?

Sanctions against Russia had been in force before the present hot phase of the war on the Donbass and therefore the participation of Russia in support for the militia of Novorossia. Russia is being punished by sanctions for the accession of Crimea and its support for the uprising in the Donbass. The Minsk agreement has not ended the war simply the intensity of the fighting has fallen. Nevertheless, almost every day artillery of the junta has shelled the city of Donetsk, almost every day it has killed civilians and militiamen, on some days – tens of people. The militia in turn continues to attack parts of the junta’s armed forces causing her serious losses, which are sometimes in the tens per day.

The Kiev regime is confronting a series of crises. It faces a collapsing economy that will be compounded by the massive austerity cuts demanded by the IMF and EU. Secondly, it faces an energy crisis due to its refusal to pay its gas debts owed to Gasprom. Finally, it faces a military crisis due to the defeats it suffered in late August. There are elections looming in Ukraine on 26 October. How likely is it that Poroshenko will launch another military offensive against Novorossia after the elections?

There is a strong chance that there will be an offensive after the elections with a view to raise the government’s poll ratings by tactical victories on the front. Strategically, the war is being driven by the US, within the framework of its continuing confrontation with Russia. The Kiev junta needs a war against Novorossia to distract the Ukrainian people from increasing socio-economic problems and it will carry on trying to solve the ”problem” of Novorossia by force.

How significant are the activities of Neo-Nazi groups in Ukraine? Over the last year groups such as Svboda and the Right Sector have been used to help overthrow Yanukovich through the Maiden protests. They have been used to attack trade unionists and members of the Communist Party and small socialist groups, such as Borotba. Besides this, they have been used to intimidate and attack Russian speakers in Eastern Ukraine. Neo-Nazis have played a significant role in the various volunteer battalions that have committed war crimes against Russian speakers in the Donbass. Many people on the Left in Europe dismiss these groups as insignificant. What do you think?

Fascist groups are fighting on behalf of the Ukrainian billionaire oligarchs and are used to implement their policy objectives to suppress the working class. The billionaire oligarchs openly seized power, refusing even the shortest period of power sharing with the politicians who are puppets. The country is now openly managed by the oligarchs who are dependent on American imperialism. We can see that for fascism, communism remains its worst of enemies. Ukrainian fascists are infected with primitive racist attitudes towards Russian speakers. Ukrainian fascists get support from their media. In Europe part of the left does not understand the threat posed by fascism in Ukraine due to political blindness. From my point of view, any modern people of left or communist views are obliged to one degree or another to take part in the fight against the Ukrainian fascism, as it threatens not only the people of Ukraine, but also threatens to plunge the world into a major war.

The war in Eastern Ukraine has led to an influx of foreign volunteers going to fight for the self-defence militias of Lugansk and Donetsk. According to a report in August by Paula Slier of Russia Today a brigade of international volunteers is to be formed called ‘United Continent’. Do you think parallels can be drawn between this force and the International Brigades that fought against fascism in the Spanish Civil War in the 1930s?

First you need to understand that the major part of the army of Novorossia are local residents. Volunteers from Russia make up about 10-15 % of the militia. 1-2% of the volunteers who serve in the militias come from other countries – the US, Germany, Italy, France, Spain, Brazil, Colombia, Serbia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Abkhazia, South Ossetia and a number of other countries. The main motivation of these people is to fight against fascism. With the increase in the number of left-wing and communist units in the armed forces of Novorossia (especially in the mechanized brigade, known as the “ghost” Alexey think-tank, which openly advocated the elimination of large capital), this analogy with the International Brigades has become even more apparent. It is understood that, in combat units there are people with different political and ideological views – in one battalion can be found Christian believers (Orthodox, or Mormons), and atheists, communists, and anarchists. The fight against Ukrainian fascism has drawn these seemingly polar ideological and political currents together. It is therefore to strengthen the Armed Forces of Novorossia that Lenin portraits can peacefully coexist with icons. One commander who does not love communists, can still raise people in an attack with screaming, “For the Homeland! For Stalin! “. For many in the the Russian Federation and Europe – this is not just a war, this is our Spain 1936-1938. The present bloody war reflects the profound contradictions of the contemporary global capitalist world.

Strong evidence links Right Sector and National Guard to killings and mass graves

View the grim photograph below which may be more clearly seen on RT’s website.

Reminder: the California National Guard has been training and working with the Ukrainian National Guard for over 20 years, and was honored by the California legislature this year.

From Russia Today, October 2, 2014

There is irrefutable evidence that the National Guard and ultra-nationalist Right Sector fighters are responsible for the murder of people recently discovered in mass burial sites near Donetsk, eastern Ukraine said Russia’s Investigative Committee.

“For those who have doubts regarding who’s responsible for these murders, the Investigative Committee has irrefutable evidence – witness accounts and appropriate examinations – that directly indicates that this crime was committed by fighters from the National Guard and Right Sector,” the committee’s head Vladimir Markin in a statement on Wednesday.

The mass graves discovered in September near the city of Donetsk in eastern Ukraine “are further eloquent testimony to the atrocities of the Ukrainian nationalists,” Markin said, adding that “all of the victims were tortured before their murder.”

The murders were described in detail in the testimony of a soldier from the ‘Dnepr’ battalion, Sergey Litvinov, detained in a Russian hospital as a civilian after he fled Ukraine, Markin said. Currently Litvinov is under arrest and is to be transferred to Moscow for further questioning, he added.

Litvinov “personally killed civilians not involved in the military conflict, including women and children residents of the villages Melovoye, Shiroky, Makarovo and Kamushnoye, guided by anonymous denunciations,” Markin said, quoting the soldier’s testimony.

“What is more interesting that this fighter received a money reward for the killings from his leadership sponsored by Igor Kolomoysky,” Markin said, referring the Kiev-appointed Dnepropetrovsk governor and prominent oligarch.

“We know the names of many of the commanders of military units, the militants of the Right Sector and the National Guard, who carry out criminal orders of the military and political leadership of Ukraine,” Markin said, adding that all of them will sooner or later have to answer “not only before the law, but also to their own conscience.”

In the Wednesday statement the spokesman of the Investigative Committee stressed that all information and evidence of the crimes is provided by direct witnesses, primarily refugees who fled the region of military operations.

There are over 300,000 refugees who fled to Russia, according to Markin. Over 60,000 were questioned and 12,000 of them were confirmed to be victims, he added.

“In addition to eyewitness accounts, many victims have provided evidence to the Russian Investigative Committee and evidence in the form of soil samples, genetic material. These samples were thoroughly examined, confirming the testimony of witnesses and victims themselves.”

Markin slammed Ukraine’s General Prosecutor’s Office for failing to carry out its own investigation.

“What prevented andis preventing them now from conducting their own investigation into the massacres of the civilian population and to try to protect the innocent population of Donbass instead of makinghysterical statements about the alleged ‘interference’ in the affairs of a sovereign republic?” he questioned.

The discovery of the graves was made on September 23 by self-defense forces, who were responding to information given to them by locals, who said that they had been dug by Ukrainian government forces. The OSCE confirmed the finding on September 25 and reported its concerns to the European Union.

Ukraine: Strong Evidence Right Sector, National Guard Linked to Killings and Mass Graves Near Donetsk

http://www.globalresearch.ca/ukraine-strong-evidence-right-sector-national-guard-linked-to-killings-and-mass-graves-near-donetsk/5405960
