Russian operation in Syria reveals the real sponsors of terrorism to the world

Russian operation in Syria started less than a week ago, but the first results are in. Losses of terrorists number in the thousands, infrastructure is destroyed, and in addition, Russia has shown the entire world who are the sponsors of global terrorism, say the experts to Накануне.RU.

The military operation of Russian troops in Syria against ISIL militants started less than a week ago, however, even in that short time happened a number of landmark events. First of all, we are talking about a joint statement by the seven countries – France, Germany, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, the UK and the USA, that they are concerned about the strengthening of Russia in the region. A number of countries, primarily the USA, has made some pretty aggressive statements about the Russian mission in Syria.

“It is early to make conclusions, but the emphasis is clear. Here’s the point: in fact, all the statements of the USA have confirmed that ISIL is a nonstructural subdivision of that country. This terrorist army was created in order to bypassing resistance forces (particularly nuclear forces) to conduct operations in different places of the globe. As soon as the Russian air force began to inflict serious blows, Americans threw a tantrum first, because ISIL militants appealed for help. When we intervened, U.S. actions have shown who provides the “cover” and who needs this terrorist cancer. The whole world saw the face of global sponsors of terror and saw that a coalition led by the United States – is a sham on the backdrop of the world stage,” commented to Накануне.RU military expert, Colonel Alexander Zhilin.

He noted that up to this point, ISIL’s advance in Iraq and Syria was due largely to the fact that no one put up resistance to the fighters , and they had at their disposal the American space, intelligence, and military-technical exploration. Even the official missions of the anti-ISIL coalition resembled a simulation, striking insignificant targets, or the desert. Amid last week’s events efforts of the American pilots in the fight against terrorism look laughable, when the raids took out two ISIL excavators.

A separate reason for the aggressive reaction from the U.S. was the unexpectedly high technical level of the Russian units.

“I’ll give you one example. More than 50 aircraft were transported to Syria. More than 2 thousand people transported via transport aircraft. And not one of the vaunted NATO radars in Turkey, Bulgaria and other countries could record it. Today, the Americans don’t see our guys working. We have developed such a system of technical cover that the Pentagon is just going crazy – we can see them, but they can not see us. It is clear that all their plans had failed,” – explains the expert.

Meanwhile, the pilots strictly follow the order of President Putin, who, while in New York, proposed to divide the Middle East sky into sectors of control. The incident with the Israeli pilots who were pushed out of their zone by the Russian pilots, demonstrated this is unambiguously.

“We showed seriousness of intentions, meanwhile, there is no perfidy, we alerted everyone, including Netanyahu, Americans, etc. It seems to me that our “partners” think that Russia will wind snot on a fist. No, that time is over. The level of the work of our crews is just a total shock for the Americans. 500-kg bomb, released from a height of 5 thousand meters flies into a window of a bunker. It’s inconceivable. I’d say we put up a good show for everyone, when the crews are working like clockwork”, – said Zhilin.

Another result of the first week of bombings of militants – the world has been convincingly shown that Russia has high-tech precision weapons, moreover, is able to professionally use it.

As for the losses of militants, as a result of Russian air strikes, even the “conservative” figures for such a short time are very impressive. Zhilin cited figures of the Israeli and American intelligence, citing his own sources. According to these data, during the first five days of the operation more than 2,173 fighters were liquidated. Against the background of repeated statements by Barack Obama about the “inefficiency” of the Russian military-space forces, these figures may be understated.

According to political analyst, Professor Igor Panarin, by October 5, the number of killed, wounded, missing and deserted is 9,389 people. The expert explains this avalanche  by the number of deserters – about half of the total numbers, “deserters fleeing to Iraq, Turkey, Jordan”.

“The fact that they run in all directions showed one more thing – they are not fighters for Islam. They are the usual smelly mercenaries who are fighting for money. People will die for faith, but for those who are fighting for money, it makes no sense to die,” – says Zhilin.

Among the destroyed infrastructure Panarin named 13 command control posts, 10 ammunition depos, five training camps, five fuel depots, five communication nodes, disguised terrorist base, the center of special training of militants, a field ammunition depot, four mini-factories on manufacture of armaments. In addition, a number of armored vehicles and weapons systems  were destroyed– 19 T-55 tanks, 19 BMP, 18 armored personnel carriers, four MLRS, three artillery guns and 16 vehicles.

And another important point that should be emphasized. Western propaganda linked the first raid with the death of children and civilians.

“Russia is the only country in the world whose soldiers are held responsible for military action while abroad. Means of objective control, installed on the aircraft monitor the actions of the crews, including striking of targets. Our country is committed to it in principle, while all the other countries, and NATO and the US in particular, give its military a free hand and do not punish even for “dismemberment”. These scoundrels have no business to blame us for anything regarding the military”, – said Alexander Zhilin.

Brzezinski: CIA assets in Syria struck by Moscow; says U.S. should retaliate

From Fort Russ

Press TV

US foreign policy expert Zbigniew Brzezinski says the United States should retaliate if Russia does not stop bombing its assets in Syria.

Brzezinski, the national security adviser for former President Jimmy Carter, advised President Barack Obama to attempt to disarm the Russians if they keep attacking the CIA-trained militants in Syria.

“The Russian naval and air presences in Syria are vulnerable, isolated geographically from their homeland,” Brzezinski wrote in an article published by the Financial Times on Sunday. “They could be ‘disarmed’ if they persist in provoking the US.”

“But, better still, Russia might be persuaded to act with the US in seeking a wider accommodation to a regional problem that transcends the interests of a single state,” he added.

[Russia will not joined the illegal US coalition – FR]

A new US intelligence assessment has found Russia has targeted militant groups backed by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) in Syria.

The assessment, shared by commanders on the ground, has led American officials to conclude that Russian warplanes have intentionally struck CIA-backed militants in a string of attacks running for days, the Wall Street Journal reported.

Moscow’s apparent decision to strike CIA’s militants “at best” reflects “Russian military incompetence,” and worst, “evidence of a dangerous desire to highlight American political impotence,” wrote Brzezinski.

He added that if Moscow continues to target these people, then Washington should retaliate against Russians.

“In these rapidly unfolding circumstances the US has only one real option if it is to protect its wider stakes in the region: to convey to Moscow the demand that it cease and desist from military actions that directly affect American assets,” he said.

[Syria must bow to the global master – FR]

Obama administration officials are debating how the United States can come to the aid of its proxy forces on the ground without risking a broader conflict, according to the Wall Street Journal.

US officials said Russia’s moves in Syria posed a direct challenge to the Obama administration’s foreign policy on the Middle East.

Moscow’s commitment to the Syrian government runs counter to current US policy, which calls for the ouster of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

Russia has been beefing up its military presence in neighboring Syria, deploying warplanes, tanks and personnel to an airfield in the western port city of Latakia. It launched a coordinated air campaign to fight Daesh (ISIL) and other terrorists.

Senior Russian officials have said the current campaign is limited to airstrikes, but have not ruled out “volunteers” on the ground.

Syria has been gripped by a foreign-backed militancy since March 2011 aimed at toppling the Assad government. The violence has claimed the lives of more than 250,000 people so far.

The Syrian opposition unexpectedly sides with Russia against the U.S.

A representative of the opposition has exposed the lies of Western media about Russian air strikes in Syria.

The Syrian opposition has suddenly issued a statement, denouncing the Western media lie about Russia’s air strikes in Syria. Its representative Qadri Jamil said that Russia does not bomb the “moderate opposition”, as reported by the American and European media, according to Sputnik.

“It is illogical to say that the Russians are bombing the opposition. They are bombing the radical opposition “Jabhat An-Nusra”, which some European media called “the Syrian opposition”. But it cannot be called “moderate opposition”, they are the radical Islamists who should be the object of the bombing”, – he said.

Moreover, Jamil said that the forces of the “Free Syrian army” should give Russia their positions so as not to become targets of Russian air strikes.

Also the representative of the Syrian opposition made another sensational statement. The “Free Syrian army” announced that it is not a terrorist organisation and is ready to join the fight against the militants of the “Islamic state” with government forces.

Also the “Free Syrian army” has declared its readiness to cooperate with Moscow.

Russia destroys Al Nusra command and control, Syrian Army prepares ground attack against US-sponsored Al Qaeda terrorists, FSA militants surrender

Global Research, October 05, 2015
South Front 5 October 2015

The Syrian army is preparing for offensive actions against Al Nusra and ISIS near the town of Al-Rastan. In the recent interview, the Commander of the 147th Syrian tank brigade said that they coordinate perfectly with the Russian forces providing them intelligence and air support.

According to the government sources, over 450 militants from the Free Syrian Army (FSA) and another 250 people wanted by governmental authority have turned themselves into the Syrian Security Forces at the provincial capital of the Dara’a Governorate (Dara’a city). There are no confirmed reports about the reasons of such activity, but anybody can easily suppose why they did this. Meanwhile, the Syrian Air Force struck the Syrian Al-Qaeda group “Jabhat Al-Nusra” and their allies from the FSA around the city of Busra Al-Sham.

On Saturday morning, the Russian Aerospace Defence Forces (VKO) targeted the Jaysh Al-Fateh (Army of Conquest) militant group positions in the Idlib Governorate: Mardeij, Ma’arat Al-Nu’man, Jisr Al-Shughour, Saraqib and Sarmeen.

Separately, the Russian Air Force’s destroyed a command-and-control center of Jabhat Al-Nusra at Saraqib.

Russian warplanes conducted a reconnaissance flight above the Al-Ghaab Plains of the Hama Governorate. This could be a feature of the future military activity in this sector.

ISIS has been targeted by the Russian warplanes at the city of Al-Raqqa sector at least 25 times and each time. This includes the Tabaqa Military Airport and Tabaqa National Hospital turned into the ISIS’ primary military base and headquarters in Al-Raqqa.

Recently, the VKO has targeted the terrorist group inside the Deir Ez-zour Governorate. The ISIS positions along the imperative Deir Ezzor-Raqqa International Highway and Al-Mayadeen-Deir Ez-zour Road were destroyed.

The Russian Aerospace Defence Forces has conducted more than 60 flights and bombed over 50 Islamic State targets in three days. According to the Lieutenant General Andrey Kartapolov, head of the Main Operation Directorate of the General Staff of Russia’s armed forces, the strikes have significantly reduced the terrorists’ combat capabilities.

Russia tightly shut the sky over Syria for any aircraft, except its own

American military expert, a former Colonel of the U.S. army Jack Jacobs said that the United States can’t interfere with Russians in Syria, as Russia de facto set up a no-fly zone, cutting off access to any aircraft with the help of air defense systems deployed on land and on ships of the Russian navy in the Mediterranean.

In the Saudi paper on Friday, October 2 appeared an interview with former U.S. Colonel Jack Jacobs, who announced that the United States can’t stop the Russians in Syria, as Russia has set up a no-fly zone.. This means that any military aircraft entering the combat zone, may be immediately shot down as a threat to the Russian airspace forces.

American sources claim that the Russian Federation with the assistance of deployed land-based air defense systems have established a no-fly zone over the entire airspace of Syria, in addition the approaches to the Russian airbase in Latakia are also closed from the sea to a distance of 100-250 km from the coast by the Russian navy, now conducting exercises in the Mediterranean sea.

Thus, the U.S. and its allies can’t even carry out the air reconnaissance of the Russian Federation forces.

A source in military circles of the American military in Turkey reported that NATO aircraft, trying to get close to the forces of the Russian Federation, has been identified by radar, and the source of the radar could not even be traced.

“The Russians have indicated that they can see everything, and getting closer is not worth it, otherwise it will be shot down”, – said the American military.

“Frankly we were surprised by the air defense system of Russia, most likely there are the latest systems S-400. I have no other ideas,” – said Colonel Jack Jacobs.

About Russians creating a no-fly zone over Syria also writes Bloombeg, citing a senior American military officer. The commander of the NATO forces in Europe General Philip Breedlove said that the new military infrastructure of Russia in Syria, including air defense systems, de facto creates a no-fly zone.

According to Breedlove, Russia has created over Syria,a “sphere of negation”, which American planes can’t enter.

General Breedlove believes that “very complex air defense system” deployed by Russia in Syria is aimed not against the “Islamic state”, which does not have aviation. “They are against someone else,” said the commander of the NATO forces in Europe.

“After several years of discussion in the U.S.of plans to create no-fly zones in Syria to protect the rebels and civilians, appeared Vladimir Putin and in a few days established his own no-fly zone.

In the US the two parties argued for a long time and could not agree, about a no-fly zone, and Putin just went ahead and did it,” sarcastically said the author of the article on Bloomberg.

The Pentagon has admitted the scale of the Russian no-fly zone in Syria, when it began negotiations with Russia on how to avoid conflicts in the conduct of their air operations.

Discussion between the military of the two countries was conducted on October 1 via a closed video channel, and lasted about an hour. On the American side in the negotiations participated the assistant Secretary of Defense for international security Elyssa Slotkin.

“The discussion was devoted to how the U.S. and Russia can cooperate on the prevention of conflict in Syria. Such discussions will continue,” – said following the talks, the official White house spokesman Josh Ernest.

It is also known that Elissa Slotkin expressed in the negotiations concern that Russia is striking not only the militants of the “Islamic state” but other groups of terrorists, which the US considers “moderate opposition to Assad” and supports them.

The response of the representatives of the Russian Defense Ministry is unclear, but apparently, the general sense was that “We can not discriminate between the different shades of ‘crap’. So we will hammer everyone who shoots at the soldiers of the legitimate government of Syria, at whose request we are here”.

And the Americans had to accept it. Pentagon spokesman Peter Cook said that the U.S. government will not use U.S. air power to protect the “moderate rebels”.

Apparently the “goodwill”, shown by the United States compromising with Russia, is not exactly “good”, but is caused by a complete fiasco of the U.S. armed forces, which in the last 20 years bombed only the ‘Papuans’ and forgot what it was like to deal with real high-tech adversary armed with modern sea and air defense systems.

And now the Americans are just lost because they do not know how to behave with those who are able to realistically fight back.

The Pentagon is considering defending ‘moderate’ Syrian terrorists from Russia

MOSCOW, October 2 — RIA Novosti. The Pentagon is looking into the issue of whether the use of military force to protect the Syrian “moderate opposition” [read: moderate terrorists – KR], if it is subjected to Russian airstrikes, but no decision on this matter has been made, reports the Associated Press, citing U.S. officials.

U.S. officials told the agency that high-ranking military leaders and Pentagon are researching the legal and foreign policy aspects of the issue [damn Russia tricked them into remembering about the law! – KR] and weigh the risks of using military force in response to the possible actions of the Russian air force on the backed by Washington Syrian opposition groups. The U.S. Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter declined to answer this question, when asked directly about it earlier this week, the agency said.

A senior official of the Russian Defense Ministry said Thursday that representatives of military departments of Russia and the United States discussed regular communication of experts to prevent conflict of interests in the Syrian airspace, the conversation had been constructive.

Earlier the President of Russia Vladimir Putin has declared that  he expects the completion of the dialogue between Russia and the U.S. to coordinate actions to combat terrorism in Syria and the establishment of a permanent mechanism for such interaction.

U.S. officials told the agency that the issue of use of military force is discussed as one of the options of how to respond to Russia’s actions in Syria. One of the officials noted that the military is assessing the possible negative consequences of such step, however, the final decision is still pending.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Committee on Armed Forces of the U.S. Senate, John McCain has expressed confidence that Russian planes yesterday bombed not the positions of the terrorist group “Islamic state” but units of the “Free Syrian army”. The agency notes that the American-trained insurgents are active in the North, while the strikes of the Russian air force are applied in the Western part of Syria.

In September, Pentagon spokesman General Lloyd Austin, at the hearings of the Senate Committee on the armed forces acknowledged that only four or five American-trained fighters are fighting against ISIS [the rest fled to ISIS – KR]

Russia has begun air strikes on ISIS positions in Syria in response to a request from President Bashar al-Assad. The US-led coalition has been [pretend] striking ISIS since September 2014 in Syria in circumvention of the UN Security Council and not coordinating their actions with Syrian authorities. Senator Tom Cotton: U.S. should shoot down Russian planes over Syria (video)

Some excerpts from Sen. Cotton:

“Russia is an enemy. Vladimir Putin is a KGB spy.”

“[Putin] wants to divert attention from his occupation in Ukraine.”

“We should establish no-fly zones in Syria and make it clear that any aircraft that enters those zones will be shot down.”

“We should make it clear that we will fly where we want and when we want.”

“Putin is humiliating the United States.”

“If we don’t draw a line now and enforce it, it will not be a choice between humiliation or war. It will be a choice between humiliation and war.”

Russian Air Force destroys terrorist command center in Raqqa – Defense Ministry

From RT

A surgical airstrike by Russian fighter jets has knocked out the battle headquarters of a jihadist group near Raqqa, according to Russian Defense Ministry. Operating from the Khmeimim airbase, the Russian Air Force continues to inflict pinpoint strikes on Islamic State installations.

“Over the past 24 hours, Sukhoi Su-34 and Su-24M fighter jets have performed 20 sorties and hit nine Islamic State installations,” Igor Konashenkov, Russia’s Defense Ministry spokesman, reported.

<iframe width=”690″ height=”388″ src=”https://www.youtube.com/embed/n4SYzRPT-lw&#8221; frameborder=”0″ allowfullscreen><!–iframe>

Konashenkov added that yesterday evening Russian aircraft went on six sorties, inflicting strikes on three terrorist installations.

“A bunker-busting BETAB-500 air bomb dropped from a Sukhoi Su-34 bomber near Raqqa has eliminated the command post of one of the terror groups, together with an underground storage facility for explosives and munitions,” the spokesman said.

Commenting on the video filmed by a Russian UAV monitoring the assault near Raqqa, Konashenkov noted, “a powerful explosion inside the bunker indicates it was also used for storing a large quantity of munitions.

“As you can see, a direct hit on the installation resulted in the detonation of explosives and multiple fires. It was completely demolished,” the spokesman said.

Another bomber on a sortie from Khmeimim has dropped a KAB-500 air bomb on an Islamic State camp near Maarrat al-Numan. It destroyed fortifications, ammunition, fuel and seven units of equipment, Konashenkov said at a media briefing on Saturday.

The Russian Air Force has also eliminated a workshop in Idlib province, where terrorists have been mounting large-caliber machine-guns and other heavy armaments on pickup trucks.

Assault aircraft from at Khmeimim airbase have also inflicted airstrikes against terrorist forces near Jisr al-Shughur in Idlib province, destroying vehicle storage depots used for organizing terror attacks.

Regarding the airstrike on a target near Jisr al-Shughur, Igor Konashenkov pointed out, “footage of a huge pillar of smoke indicates a direct hit resulted in the total elimination of the facility.”

Reading betweeen the lines of Putin’s UN speech: US is cornered in Syria

From Fort Russ

September 28, 2015
Blogger Dima Piterski
Translated by Kristina Rus

A few words about what preceded Putin’s speech. After the schedule of speeches was revealed, NASA immediately convened a press conference at almost the same time with some sensational details about Mars. It turned out that small rivers might flow there, or, perhaps not. It is clear that this was done so that Americans would change the channel and not watch Putin’s speech.

Many, including myself, noticed that simultaneously with the beginning of Putin’s speech a strange noise was heard in the room coming from the speakers. The noise was distinct and irritating. The aim is clear – to ruin the impression from the speech and try to bring Putin a little out of balance.

(…)

The intrigue was revealed by Obama, who in his speech called Assad a dictator, expressed complaints about Crimea, in short, ran the old song. Which is encouraging – it means they will not agree and there will not be any more hypocritical smiles and more hoots of the Russian fifth about “the extended hand of friendship” [from the US].

In Putin’s speech, who said everything we already know about the Western destruction of the Middle East and support of terrorists, asking a rhetorical question: “Do you realize what you’ve done?”, – I would emphasize one point that helps to envision his future course. The President first stressed, that the only legitimate authority in Syria is the Assad government, and secondly- that no one can arbitrarily act in circumvention of the UN Charter.

Since Russia has a veto power, then no coalition can legitimately act without our consent. But we can act without the consent of the United States and their lackeys because we are asked by the legitimate government of Syria. This is a strong position.

Another question is what will we do if the US still dares to attack Assad. But, obviously, all the consequences of such a step Putin will explain to Obama face-to-face in today’s talks.

I really hope that even a superficial agreement will not be achieved and Russia will continue the hard line on squeezing the U.S. out of Eurasia.
